Looking to see if someone has a volume control knob for a 1968 Philco AM radio? I have extra radio's, but no knobs.

Dominic;
Recognize any of these? Can you use any of them? If so, PM me your address.

Neil, I was at a swap meet today. I picked up one radio knob, the two flat pieces that sit behind them and a white plastic piece that was on one of the radio shafts behind the knob and flat washer type knob. I'm not sure which side of the radio the white piece was on. Do you know the piece I mean? I'm curious as to what it does.

Thanks. :grin:

Since the AM radio only has three active knob controls (volume and tone on the left and manual tuning on the right) the white plastic piece goes over the tuning shaft on the right side behind the unused inner knob to keep it from spinning freely. The plastic piece is kind of flimsy and probably a bit brittle at this point, so I suggest being careful to avoid turning the inner knob once it's installed to avoid breaking it.

Thanks for that information Neil. It all worked out well, as now I have a complete set of correct radio knobs on the car. One of the dials behind the knobs on my car was split, but the white plastic piece was in good shape. Funny thing though, the white piece on my car looked slightly different to the one I got at the swap meet. The new piece had an "extenstion" for lack of a better word which the other one didn't.

The top upper left looks like it. The numbers on the back reads Fomoco
C8ZA-18817- I can't really tell what's next. But there is a 9.

Thanks RU. The white piece in my car had the extension bit broken off. My swap meet bit was intact. All the knobs match and are now correct. :cool:
