I'm looking for a gt/cs or a HCS, but still in the education process. Quick question, the "blacked out hood" option was just the hood was painted flat black?

What should a 4-5 condition HCS or CS sell for? Generally speaking

Are you looking at such a car? If you are it would sure help us to see some photos. Don't worry, none of these folks will buy the car out from under you. This is a good, honest group. Can you post the VIN, or send it to me in a private message if you don't want to post it?

Welcome!

Pricing is tough, assuming you are expecting 289 or 6 cylinder with minimal options? i.e. power steering.

Where are you located? assuming you are looking for an unrestored or older restoration. I used to live in SoCal (Inland Empire) very little to no rust on mine. I would much rather have a sunbaked Southwest car without rust, than a Great Lakes region car with structural rust.

My advice, find the best car that you can afford. Look for one that has most of it's original GT/CS specific parts intact. Marti verified. 289/302 with C4's are relatively easy to find if missing.
Educate yourself not just on GT/CS and HCS's, but 1968 Mustang coupes and trouble areas.

Thanks for the input guys, I will try to post some pics, it has the usual mustang cancer, floors need to be replaced, body looks solid, but there may be some frame rot, need to check it out in person. Fairly well optioned (289, black out hood, overhead consul, wire wheel covers, ps,pb, automatic, no a/c.....) seller wants 7900.

I think it's a bit much

It' difficult to find a GT/CS shell for that price so you may actually be looking at a bargain, unless it's a total rust bucket.

IMO the first thing to do is to make sure it's real. If the seller doesn't have a Marti report send me the VIN and I'll get one for you.

Hold on a minute, are we talking about an Acapulco Blue car on the East coast? If so, it's a clone.

We are talking about that car.
Here is the Marti. The car is an early coupe with GT/CS parts added to it.
