    1968 Interior restoration

I've used "Kilz" as a primer before applying paint. Do it outside and let it air out. Steve

    1968 Stalls under Load

Ford changed the firing order on 302's back in the late 80's I think, to the same as the 351 and a lot of builders use cams with the new firing order. I agree to find out what cam was used, it's firing order, and make sure you have it correct in your car before proceeding.

    1968 Selling a '68 GT/CS

Jerry, I think the replacement engine will hurt it some. Matching numbers increases the price. Headliners generally can't be repaired and must be replaced, and it's a bit of work to do it because you have to pull front and rear glass. Personal opinion only, "single family" isn't as important as...

    . Diaper Please

The issue isn't adjustment, but rather the shifter detents on column shift cars get worn down, because the part is made of pot metal, and the weight of the shifter handle causes it to drop down, with reverse being the first position it comes to. I'm converting my Fairlane to floor shift as a...

    1968 New Guy Hello

Repop parts never seem to fit right. They all require some degree of "adjustment". The only NOS or original I wouldn't seek are soft parts like weatherstripping, upholstery, etc. The rubber or vinyl dries out over time and cracks.

1966-67 HCS %^&#*! wont start when hot

Here's a couple of things to consider. 1) Arlie is correct on aftermarket coils possibly needing the full 12V, however, in the "Start" position, 12V would be present. It drops when you release the key to the "Run" position. Your coil could have degraded if it's been in there a while without the...

    . Diaper Please

My '69 Fairlane pinned me against a steel gate once, when it dropped into reverse while I was behind it. I was stuck there until someone came by that jumped in and moved it forward. I still have dents from my hands in the trunk lid that I'll have to take out when I get that far in the...

    V6 3.5 liter w/twin turbo

I've towed with a number of vehicles, and my F250 Diesel is the best. You can hardly tell a car is back there. I also think you need to double check how much you're going to be towing. The car alone I probably 2800 lbs, and I'd bet a 20' enclosed trailer is going to be at least another 2000 lbs...

    1968 Mystery Motor

If the number starts "8F" (or 8R, etc,) instead of 184, it's from a 1968 Mercury product. Steve

1968 Another AC water hose routing qn

The hose is held by the bracket screwed to the outside of the choke housing. The hose curves toward the carb, then down to the port. The heat warms the choke spring to open the choke when the engine is at temp. Steve

For Sale '68 CS near Spokane

I did receive a couple of very brief emails back from the seller, and he'd agreed to let Arlie and I come look at it this weekend. When I asked for a time and place, and asked if he had a Marti or any documentation, communication stopped. While I won't speculate why someone wouldn't want...

For Sale '68 CS near Spokane

I just emailed the seller and see if he wants us to come over and look at it, or if he has a Marti, etc. I talked to the guy that knows of one in a garage a few weeks ago, but have been gone on vacation, and then spent the last two days working on Stephen's car again, so haven't had a chance to...

For Sale '68 CS near Spokane

Found this on Craigslist. I don't know the car, but think I saw it driving around one day. I'd be willing to go look at it, if someone was serious about it. http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/5164331422.html Steve

    1968 GT/CS Engine rebuild...go stock or mod?

Late getting to the party, but here's my take. From earlier research I did, the 331 kit doesn't require skirt notching, with a 302 block. The 347 kit does. I built my engine with a comp cams 268 xtreme energy cam, 9.3-1 Hyper-eutectic pistons, Alum intake, Holley 600 and Thorley Tri-Y headers...

    1968 stalling in reverse???

Sorry, I've been out of town for a while. In the Seattle area as a matter of fact. I have to take my son to the airport on Sunday, and I see you'll be at the Bellevue show. I'll try to stop by and chat with you.

For Sale 1968 GT/CS on Ebay X-code project

I just got 2, low res, generic (from a distance type) photos of the underside, and one of the trunk floor from the seller. It was nice of him to try, but they don't really show condition. Steve
