Sounds like about an $8000 car to me. Needs a bunch of work to get it correct. From your description it's going to need a new paint job, hood and some body work. $3000 to $5000 at least for that alone. But I could be out of touch for a project of this type. Just my $.02

The only way I know is to remove the pin that holds the reverse ring onto the shifter. But, when you that, it's a pain to get the wire that pin holds inside the shifter hooked back up. If you go to that trouble, you might as well replace the rubber shifter bushings that rot with age, it will...

"If" you removed your smog setup, you would get improved mpg and more horsepower. The reason is the car would NOT have to work as hard because of the smog pump. I suppose you could just take off the belt and put it back on when it came time to show. As posted by another member, I do recall...

The term "top loader" is refering to your 4 speed trans. You have the upgraded small block motor offered in 68. Sounds like a great car, I can't wait to see it this summer.

I have three words of advice for you. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! I've placed over some really nice cars at large Mustang and All-Ford shows here in the Detroit area mainly because my car was cleaner than others in my class.
