    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Hey, I ain't no "concours" guru, just someone who's tinkered with these cars far too long who tries to make mine stay as they were (for the most part, the EXP is a vast digression! But "period correct" in many ways...). Which is getting harder to do as repro parts/panels are probably...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

And I am unsure if S is firewall pad or a option wiring port... and the pad is the one to the left. Anyone know where the convertible wire originally went? My '68 uses S but am not sure if that is correct, or just where I ran it a decade ago when I restored the car... I think it may be the...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Thanks Rob, coming from you that is a high compliment. Neil, Can you clarify? I thought the non-AC heater holes were blanked off with rubber plugs on AC cars. The heater core in the AC box has connections thru the optional oval punch-out, and the evaporator connections go thru where the...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Yep, and 6 cylinders will have different items. And manual vs clutch differs (hole F will be closed on a automatic car). Have updated the initial lists. To do a comprehensive listing would take pics from a few different cars. 6, small block, big block, manual, auto. I doubt body style...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Some added holes from another pic I saw digging up the two above, a bit clearer in primer... 1 – AC heater box mounting studs (2 dimples) 2 – AC water control valve (2 screws) 3 – Radio Suppressor Strap 4 – Hood turn signal wiring (San Jose cars) 5 - Cowl weatherstrip (7 places) 6- Windscreen...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Got a PM asking for the decoder ring to a couple photos I did. This is based on a 68 S code manual GT. Could not find the original post. Any corrections or clarifications appreciated, can amend the list if needed. A – Power brake booster, red (manual cars use only two side holes on...

1968 front shocks with shelby modification

I find there is just enough room for me to lie on the flor and slide under the front fender to access the lower studs with the pony on its hooves.... A 1/4" drive deep socket with a long extension reaches the nuts... And a half a day for a simple job is about my pace too! A blessed moment...

1968 anyone installed an electric antenna in their Stang?

OK, on the bench I confirmed it needs one 12v "on" all the time (so the options port shuld be the go for that wire) the other moves the antenna up when the radio is on (12v on/off w/radio to that lead). I really don't want a added separate switch, and am thinking if I splice into the plug and...

1968 front shocks with shelby modification

Nope, did it on 2 cars recently and no issues. I always install them with the wheels on the ground as I find its easier to get a socket on the lower mounting nuts in that configuration. I think I noticed the same thing, but did not worry about travel as under load/driving I figure full drop...

1968 anyone installed an electric antenna in their Stang?

In further looking it appears I need a 12V hot (I guess I could go to this from the options 3 port yellow plug on the firewall) and then a 12V only when the radio is on... not sure where that would be...so thinking the in series won't cut it... Any help from someone who's done it appreciated...

1968 anyone installed an electric antenna in their Stang?

Have a automatic extending Hirschman in the EXPs rear 1/4 and need to connect it. The "universal" instructions show a picture of a radio with the two wires from the antenna plugging into it... not likely with an OEM AM. In order to energize the antenna I am thinking I just need to put it in...

    1968 CS/GT Trunk lid Weatherstripping????

Just went and looked, installed it wide side up. I guess my thinking was the taper aligns to the taper of the opening lip a bit better that way....

    1968 CS/GT Trunk lid Weatherstripping????

Not sure, I forget which way I applied it.... will have to go look! And in poking around trying to find it I did fond reference to trapezoidal trunk weatherstripping being used on fastbacks...pics I saw were similar but somewhat different to what I used. Also noticed NPD is no selling...

    1968 Seat Cover Change

The rear seat can be resistant to moving. The "clips" can be firm, I've found a gentle nudge with the heel of your palm, or a knee for more recalcitrant ones, on the front of the seat bottom right above the clip has worked for me.... can break it loose if it hasn't moved in a few decades. As...

    1968 CS/GT Trunk lid Weatherstripping????

Depends on if you want the original style (repros can be hard/stiff and seal poorly0 or a softer alternate. The seal goes on the trunk lid. I find it easiest to apply with the lid off the car. If original the "C" shape points with the opening inward. See this site (one of many that posts the...
