Headlights off, both sides work fine. Headlights on, LH works, RH does not... Lights off, hit RH... blink-blink-blink... turn on the lights without touching the turn signal lever and it quits. Lights off... blink-blink-blink... Weird. New wiring, bench tested, in both buckets. All OK...

1968 CS vs Shelby Tail Panels

As noted in the prior post, pulled the tail panel. Using it as a base for a mold to repair a "Shelby" OEM I bought a while ago for another project. In looking at them at the shop doing the repairs today, I noticed a slight difference in the two. I don't have good photos and I'll try to...

    1968 Adding headrests to a '68

Wanted headrests in my '68's. Background, '68 seats are different then '65-'67 and '69 and later. The TMI sport seat headrests don't fit '68's (they look kinds funky IMO) and the 69 single posts don't work either. OEM '68 headrests are really hard to find. $$$$$ As the '69 headrests and...

    1968 Repro Marchal lights

Took a closer look at the new repros. While very nice parts, some differences to OEM (which is not surprising) Here is a link to Pete Disher's CoralSnake site with a pic of the OEM lights, I am assuming same as Shelby (kudos for Pete for his support and documentation for the hobby!)...

    1968 Soldering grounds

OK. Tried to add the ground wires to a spare taillight harness I have before taking the real one out of the car. A few tips in other threads, decided to start a new one. The solder refuses to stick to the brass. Flux core, silver solder. I tried: - steel wool housing, new wire. Splay the...

    1968 AC vacuum line routing

    1968 Taillight housing restoration

In the GT/CS book it notes these were chrome plated. In looking at a pair I'm working on (Shelby, second set to play with before disassembling the GT/CS) it sure looks sprayed on to me... On mine its pretty evident that there was a mask, as the edge outside the lamp housings areas has...

    1968 Trunk wiring

Saw to old post on taillight wiring/ground and started looking at the repair. In the trunk I found two wires spliced into the taillight harness. See below. the wires do not apper original and as they terminates at cut ends I can't figure out what they would have been used for... any...

    1968 Alignment, add shims?

Recommendations? I have seen some posts about adding shims of ~1/8" to the UCA's to get better alignment numbers for radials on the '68's. As I'm looking at a Shelby drop, then is the time to add the shims as realignment will be required. Recommended specs for caster, camber, toe? Have big...

1968 Looking for PPG formula for 68 Highland Green

NOT the PPG/Ditzler color number - Ford M3067 Ditzler/PPG 43644, but the actual mix PPG would use to make the color. Base, tint, etc. Locally I can get the '67 Dark Moss Green, similar color, but my shop has been told by PPG here the Highland Green is only available in some new water-based...

    1968 New tires, springs, shocks...

Lowered the front a good 1 - 1 1/2" like the look. The new springs and Bilstein's make a very noticeable difference in handling and ride... Removed the incorrect stock 68 grille too.
