1968 New life for the old red HCS

I had a good wekend on the old red HCS. We got the new exhaust installed and wow I could not belive how easy a correct exhaust syestem could be to install. It is perfect that if it came from a Frord wrapper youu would think it was NOS with no shelf wear. Thanks Scott! We also got it running and...

    1968 Script on Front Fenders

Good point guys you would think when it was updated to include the the marker light that would have changed the number to a C8 # even though it was still considered a undrilled fender. When I get some time I'll dig in to some more book and see if I can find a better answer. Marty

    1968 Script on Front Fenders

That is why I believe that it was also used for the GT cars in 67 as well. The Master parts catalog list the C7AB16005-6-M as a undrilled service replacement ( drill holes as needed) Marty

    1968 Script on Front Fenders

Mike is correct in that there was a differnt part # for the GT-CS and HCS. I belive that this fender was a blank that was also used for the GT cars as well. I have no documentation of this. Marty

Mike tell him that there is a MCA national show in Warwick RI this weekend at the airport Crown Plaza Hotel. I do not know where he lives but the whole state is not as big as the county that we live in in Nebraska. Tari and I will be there as will be many others that can help him. Marty

    1968 Chasing a wire :-(

Neil I have a old 68 column that has a good turn switch in it so to test I lay it on the floor and plug it in to check. I see NOS switches on ebay from time to time. I think they are the best. If you get a repop I would change the tail lights to LED to lighten the load on the switch and extend...

1968 New life for the old red HCS

Wow Scott that looks great. I love the 5-68 build date on the muffler. I can't wait to see it on the car too! Every other exhuast syestem that I have installed required many trips to the local muffler shop to get things fitted. Your pictures speaks for them self. What I realy like about you...

Best of luck with tha car and the hot brunette! That is how it started with my hot brunette 32 years ago. I still think she is hot. You are in real good hands with Bob Teets. He has been a great help to me and our HCS project. Keep us up dated as to your progress. BTW I am a MCA 67-68 gold card...

1968 New life for the old red HCS

Neil we used the measurements out of the last GT-CS book a compared them to Scott Fuller's unrestored High County Special witch was very helpful in placing the HCS decal. The book called for 4'' down from the beltline at the head light bucket and 4 1/8'' at the back edge of the door. What...

1968 New life for the old red HCS

Well it is a HIGH country special! LOL. I did shoot from near the floor and it has no fuel yet but it is high in the rear. I even ordered my rear springs from Eaton Spring Co. who was Fords supplyer. I am going to order a new set and move those to our poor old 68 fastback that we load to the...

    1968 Muffler size

The transvers muffler was used on all engines. The duel exhaust with quad tips was used only on J code 302, S code 390 and R code 428 with the GT option. The rest had single exhaust. The only MCA classes that you would get a deduction for not having a transverse muffler would be Concours driven...

1968 New life for the old red HCS

Finely some progress. I worked with a freind all last weekend and we finished the interior, installed the lights and grill and striped it. Some of the striping instructions in the last GT-CS book are incorrect regarding where the strip ends behind the front fender well. I can't wait for that...
