. Satan is a cool girl

Yeah right, first off the cleveland because of its large chamber area is VERY prone to ping and one of the reasons it was dc so be careful that engine in timing. It was always a doggie low end engine because of its large runner and valve size(high rpm). The pertronix simply takes away the...

. Satan is a cool girl

Hey Tim glad you liked the read...... actually I think the factory specs are a little light, most of the time you will see the factory saying 6 deg btdc ,,,, and it will run fine at that. But you get better mileage and better power by advancing to the way you drive,,, if your a leadfoot who lugs...

. Satan is a cool girl

Well you and a lot of other guys have looked at total advance that way, I even see them doing that in magazines sometimes, but its not right. For Total advance which is usually around 36 (plus or minus a couple) total crank degrees for any engine,,,chevies included your talking about centrifugal...

. Satan is a cool girl

Yeah Rob if it was idling at 12 atdc you said you didnt drive it but it would have been pretty sluggish and doggy with that timing. Everyone should set their cars at the most advance they can tolerate, in most cases thats about 12 btdc. If you drive carefully and use good gas you might get...

. Satan is a cool girl

Yeah, I am sure some of you know this, others may not, but the "gang receptacle" at the front of your manifold is a temperature dependent "pvs". Pvs is "ported vacuum switch" some call it tvs or "Temperature vacuum switch" but the gist of it is that it switches vacuum signals using a...

. Satan is a cool girl

I cannot imagine it running worth spit at 6 deg atdc. As the guy who put most of the pollution gear on those cars back then, dont worry about the double diaphragm its actually nice. It retards your spark only at idle and as soon as the regular diaphragm sees vacuum it is back to its regular...

. Port Angeles show was great

Thanks Rob, but I wish I had more experience at it, I want to take one of those body shop classes you know. Pretty good at welding, painting itself is easy but its the prep that I need to do better at. I found out the hard way for instance that gold flake follows the lines of whatever is...

. Port Angeles show was great

Yeah its a category they have every year and usually its like a bad battery or a ticket on the way to the show or something. We had to urge Amy to get up there but once she told her story she was into it,,lol. She even flashed the guy there her bandage as you can see,,,I dont know why the guy...

. Port Angeles show was great

The show in Port Angeles was great. The weather turned out nice and even though it was a little cool early in the day, the sun came out and it was nice in the afternoon. Amy(Aemoo) , Bill (traveledgtcs) and me(mechanicalguy48) all attended. This was to be Amy's "satan" show debut but because...

1968 "Never give up on your Special."

Its good to hear there is still some fight in you Amy. These cars can confounding for sure. My most embarrasing moment wasnt with a special but happened when I was working at the factory. I was doing some carb changes during lunch in the fuel systems garage at Ford in Dearborn. I was a hotshot...

. Port Angeles show 3/25/09 Wa State

I am thinking about 100 cars, maybe a little less. Its put on by the Mustang club but its open to other makes and hot rods also. Nice little local show, not too many people drive in from long distances. A few canadians, a few seattlites, people from the Kitsap peninsula.

. Port Angeles show 3/25/09 Wa State

Yeah I was jut teasing about the class, but they dont have many 68 coupes anyway so we may be the only ones in that class. I dont care, its just a nice little show and I hope we have some decent weather.

    1966-67 HCS 1966 gt

I can tell you that when I was at the factory we did cars for the other workers so that they could buy them at the employee lots. Lots of times we added chrome and engines that were never combinations you could buy. It was overlooked by management because they wanted to do it too. I remember and...

    1966-67 HCS 1966 gt

Your missing the point. Dealer installed options are accepted in concours and street driven concours classes as are other options, judges may require proof. There is no "GT" class either. Wally short is National Head Judge for 1st Generation Mustangs or at least was in 2006 I think Charles...

    1966-67 HCS 1966 gt

I wasnt trying to dispute Jeff's statement. The issue about factory installed GT items is a long and complicated one and this judge bought the car new himself and restored to what he bought from the Ford dealer as he said "However, Garner Ford's parts department had all the goodies to turn...

    1966-67 HCS 1966 gt

Well Jeff as I said Mustang Monthly did an article not too long ago on a c code GT. It belongs to MCA judge Wally Short so you can be pretty sure he knows what he is talking about. http://www.mustangmonthly.com/featuredvehicles/mump_0807_1966_ford_mustang_hardtop_gt/index.html However I agree...
