    1966-67 HCS 1966 gt

There is a difference between factory installed and dealer installed items. Numerous sources say the factory did not build GT's in 65/66 with any engine except the A or K code. There are also numerous sources that say they have GT's with a C code engine but those are highly likely to be dealer...

    1968 Help Authenticating a GT/CS

The date codes on the fender seem to match with your Marti report. The 2 24 d2 decodes as Feb 24 and the D may be Dearborn stamping plant 2 shift or might just be "optional location - D" At any rate these should be within a month or so of your vehicle build date. Even that month is pretty...

1968 Small screws for twist lock base

Yeah I agree, they appear to be phosphate and oil , hoever mine do not have any markings on the head.

1968 Small screws for twist lock base

The head on those is 3/8 inch. The only inner fender piece that has those is the inner fender to firewall transition piece, is that what your talking about somethingspecial ? They do appear to match the head and type of screw but there is only one per side, I guess it doesnt matter if you can...

    1968 Washer Fluid Tank

I dont know that you will ever get it bright again but I have had better luck with acetone vice lacquer thinner. The acetone will remove all the old paint and does seem to penetrate the surface slightly and make it more acceptable. Mine was stained by years of old spray paint and oil/dirt/grime.

So glad to hear you got that beast running. Now I have still got to cut out one more rusted patch in the drivers side quarter panel ,,,repair/repaint it and then take off those headers someone put on. I had to repaint the passenger side quarter panel four times before I got the right paint and...

1968 Cross your fingers! The revival of Satan is... today!

Excellent , excellent then it will be the first outing for both our CS's. I should be there also if I can get the quarter panels and ten thousand other things done by then. See you there ! Lets hope neither of us needs the flatbed. Lol ! I just finished using Eastwoods on my own exhaust manifolds .

1968 What Class for Your GT/CS

I am in your area Robert and I go to quite a few shows. I dont really care that much about trophies it doesnt mean much. I think as far as mustangs go they should all be in their year and body designation, 66 hardtop, fastbacks etc. If one has scoops and big motor , so what. Almost all mustangs...

    1968 Need help

If your like me you have a sequential setup and just replacing the bulbs messes up the resistance for the blinkers. Mustang Project has a kit that replaces all the bulbs and gives you the sequential blinkers in LED. Its bright,,, I have their shelby style lights on my 65 and its twice as bright...

Yes Rich , I went thru the entire gallery and your car stands out. Only one other car comes close out of all of them. I did find a way to download off here but I would love to have the full size pics. You did a great job and should be justifiably proud of a car like that. I would love to get...

    1968 Hydro Valve lifter problems

Here is a pic I just happen to have a 68 302 4V head, these were only made that one year so kind of rare, although they arent much different. Just the casting "4V' which you can see in the pic. Notice these heads still have the standard, non stop, press in stud. There is no large shoulder at the...

    1968 Hydro Valve lifter problems

To check your lifter preload: when using Non-Adjustable Rocker Arms Pick a cylinder that you are going to check. Hand rotate the engine in its normal direction of rotation until both valves are closed. You are on the compression cycle for that cylinder. (At this position the valve springs are...

    1968 Hydro Valve lifter problems

Actually as I said the positive stop studs were not used until very late 68 and became stock on 69 and later. So if it is stock it will likely have an adjustable stud. No posi locks were ever used(stock), I believe you meant the positive stop stud. You should be able to adjust the valve train by...

    1968 Hydro Valve lifter problems

Ford used an adjustable valve train up into 1969 when it went to a positive stop type rocker. In 1966 Ford went to rail rockers but still used an adjustable system although with press in studs. So if your using the stock heads and lifter types you can adjust the preload on your lifters which...

1968 NOS gas cap: What is a fair price?

In some cases they accept the service replacement parts and in some cases they dont. You would have to talk to an MCA judge on that one I think. Personally I have never seen them take off a gas cap and look , I think they go by external looks, but it depends on the class too. In trailered...

So often people get screwed up with vacuum advance and centrifugal and minor carb issues because they dont really know the reason for something ,,,they are just guessing. I have seen this even from seasoned pro's and mechanics. Thats why I was skeptical to look at your article at first , but...

    Tuning

Excellent article Vicatz. Shows you have a good grasp of all the carb basics and your points on vacuum advance is exactly right. A lot of pro's get that wrong. Steve Former Ford Development Engineer
