Midnight Special's turned the Big 50

Happy Birthday Tim on your 50th. May it be one of the best. Not quite '68 but getting there. ('Sides if you spit the digits, you have a great engine......) Bill

    . Pictures Of Real Life!

Hey Gang, I have an idea (yeah I have a few now and then); how about a separate thread for our favorite and/or quick recepies we can share with each other??? One of mine is: SMOKED SALMON DIP This is a recipe which can be adapted to one's own tastes accordingly. Package of Smoked Salmon - or...

    ANOTHER Birthday?

Thanks Thanks one and all for your birthday wishes. Tanner and I are just sitting with the wood stove going watching football; Oregon & Oregon State now, Washington & Washington State later. Maybe the Huskies can win and get a bowl berth this time. My GT/CS is in the shop for the winter...

    Who likes parades?

I was not able to take any photos of the parade itself as I had Tanner sitting in my lap 'helping me steer.' I don't know if Tim knows if anyone took photos of the parade. He had been asked to take a WWII Vet with him in his Special. Maybe he can ask around for some photos of the parade...

    Who likes parades?

Vetern's Day Parade Well I made it over the pass on Hwy 26 and stopped at Government Camp to take a photo at the Rest Stop there. The next photo was waiting with Tim for the Veteran's Day Parade to start. The weather was nice, but chilly. Sorry more GT/CS's couldn't make it. Maybe next time...

    Who likes parades?

Can we turn in the registration form the date of the Parade, or do you need them prior? I still plan on attending - have my hotel reservation (LaQuinta Inn) but if it does turn bad, I probably won't make the trip. I've driven in snow quite a bit and I have chains, but sometimes the weather is...

    Who likes parades?

I'm also thinking about making the trip down - per mapquest it's a 5-6 hour trip for me. How many car will be allowed in the parade. Usually there is a limit as to how many vehicles are allowed. Thanks for the invite. Bill

1968 Yakima Pony Show next weekend?

I'm going. This is a show I usually go to since they have a separate catagory for the 1968 California Special. They place the later GT/CSs in the appropriate years. Labor Day weekend I was in Red Deer, Alberta. Took third out of the 7 '68 GT/CSs in the Stock class. They had a total of 502...

    Tacoma/Seattle Visit

David Yes to both questions. LeMay Museum has a show & Shine August 28th - no awards just show off your ride and visit the museum; however, the registration is probably closed for the show since they only have room for so many number of vehicles. They also have tours during the summer months...

I know there is no such thing

At least for the blue one, they admit it's a clone; whereas for the red one they have no mention of there were no real convertible 68 California Specials made. Bill

    1968 Lower console parts question

This spring I had a lower console repaired for me. It needed a couple items for underneath the body of the console and the best place we found was http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com/1919copa2.html. If you need parts they have quite a few and fairly reasonable. Bill

. July 2010 Seattle MCA Show, Northwest Get Together Part Two

I have a question/comment. Is anyone taking in the Judged Show on Saturday or is everyone attending Sundays 'Show and Shine'? I haven't decided which as yet and it will probably be the last minute choice since I am currently traveling eastern US, and hopefully home by the 16th of July. Bill

    Oklahoma here we come

It was great meeting you also Marty. Hope to see you if I can make the show in Lincoln. Currently I plan on it, but things can change. Us two Washingtonians are also taking home awards. Before I left three of the four 68 Cal Specials had a photo shoot and I will post them once I get back...

    J-code snorkle

My GT/CS build date was 4/05/68 and it has the vacumn snorkle; maybe it was one of the last off the line with that style. I have had it since new with no changes to the air cleaner other than repainting it. Bill

Yep, I am going; in fact I have arrived. I am staying at the LaQuinta Inn. BTW what is your spot #? I'm in spot 27. Bill

1968 GT/CS Book Update from Paul Newitt

Another Update on Book via SAAC Site Forum >>>>>>> From Paul Newitt "First my apologies for the delay in posting an update. You'd think that a computer would live past 11 years (!!), but my trusty Mac G3 croaked on April 26th (ironically just when I was working on the '68 Shelby history...

From what I understand, the 2011 IMM will be in Spokane. Seattle is not a member of IMM. I will be at Red Deer this year with my Special. Bill

    Colorado Event in 2011?

Since several of you have posted your upcoming trips, I decided to post my trip driving my 68 GT/CS. There is a show in Richland, WA, Memorial Day weekend which I shall be attending then I head east. First stop will be Mustang, OK June 4-6; then on to Hamburg, NY for a show June 12, and...

. Ruppstang's grouping in Mustang Times

I just received my Mustang Times and skimming through it I saw the article Mary Jean Wesche did on her trip there in the summer of 2009 (page 48) and staying a weekend with Marty and his family. This is what owning a Mustang is all about. Owners getting together and displaying their ponies...

1968 How did you find your GT/CS?

Bought mine new at Hayward Ford, Hayward, CA, April '68 for about $4,000. Saw a Hayward Ford Bill Board and decided to see what they had. Traded in a '65 six cylinder, three speed Mustang coupe as down payment (got about $1,200 for it). Still own and drive to a lot of shows. In fact, I plan...
