    1968 Starting Issue

+1, with "ballast resistor" meaning resistance wire to the coil. Do you want me to come over after work some afternoon and give you a hand with it? Steve

    1968 J Code Owners

The venturi size casting is in different locations on different series carbs, and I don't remember where it is on the square bore 4300. I thought it was front center but I guess it isn't. Here's pics of a 2100 and 4300D.

Rob, I know my factory carb was C8ZF, but I don't remember the last letter. Sorry. Take a look at the front or left front of the carb body. If memory serves, there is a number (raised casting) that gives the venturi size, so you don't have to pull the carb off and measure it. Steve

    1968 Lucas fog light problem

Bill, If the shop you go to can't figure it out, and you're not in a hurry, I'll be in that area in the middle of June. I'd be happy to help you get it straightened out. Steve

    1968 Grass Valley BBQ Video

I came out of retirement and went back to work to pay for development of a piece of property we bought to build our "dream house" on, and don't have any vacation time yet, but I'll see if there is a way to swing it. I sold my CS and Mach 1 a few years ago, and the Boss is still a project in...

I can't wait until we all have the opportunity to do it again!

    1968 I Found my First GT/CS

I checked and the dealership doesn't exist anymore, even under a different name. To bad. I was seeing a road trip with Arlie to take pictures in my future. Steve

    1968 Grass Valley BBQ Video

Yes, it was a great time! I remember looking over and Tim just calmly closed the cover on the bar-b-que as things went poof. That trip was probably my fondest GT/CS memory. Crawling under the dash of Rene's car to work on wiring, working with Rob on throttle linkage, driving one of Tim's cars...

    1968 "Idle hands...."

Two consecutive power assist valves that were bad, NAPA didn't have any more in stock and Stephen had to head home. I felt like I'd failed him, but what can you do when new parts fail and you're under a time constraint. Steve

    Another Bad Idea?

And I thought I'd seen it all when it was just the car! Steve

. Just Had to Log In

The same thing happens to me whenever I manually clear my cookies. I have my computer set to automatically clear them after each session, but leave my log in info. Once in a while I wipe everything. Steve

    Another Bad Idea?

I had the front edges of my scoops painted white as well. Of course the whole car was white, so it didn't show, but the thought was there. Steve

    1968 CS Book

I received this in an email from Marti Auto and thought I'd pass it along. Don't stone me, not endorsing, just giving info. :embarass:

    For Sale '68 center Console

Yes, I met him a few years ago at the Bellevue Mustang show. I believe he bought the car that was advertised from somewhere near Longview, Wa. Steve

    Another Bad Idea?

Yes, it's to keep the motor from flexing enough to tear the rubber motor mount. I used to use a piece of chain down to the frame rail on my Mach 1, so that it had some flex but not enough to rip the mount. Steve

    For Sale GTCS for sale

I'm ready for a road trip, but they told me I couldn't even come look at it until the person they'd already talked to had a chance to get it in two weeks. Steve

    For Sale GTCS for sale

Well shoot! I just sent them an email asking to look at it. I guess I can't get over the bug. Steve Just heard back. They promised it to someone who can't come look at it for 2 weeks. I asked to be notified if it falls through.

1968 What is one of the earliest California Special VIN numbers

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure, but I thought I'd throw out another aspect of the conversation. The CS trunk lid is essentially the same as a Shelby convertible trunk lid, and the Shelby's would have come out in Sept. 1967, like other new Mustangs. I would think that any...
