1968 Finally Finished Restoring my GT/CS!

What an awesome story also. Your GT/CS is stunning! Never remove compression from and engine. Compression is just to much fun!! Sounds like your rear tires are a bit "challenged"!! As they should be! My brother has a 1964 Comet Caliente! Warmed up 302 and 4 speed. Back with Crager...

1968 Working with 50-Year Old Parts

I had a "new" lower control arm fail within 500 miles on my GT/CS. Moog parts do come out of China these days, but built to a higher standard I believe..... I hope..... Rob

    1968 GT Package

Many people called the deluxe interior a "GT interior" as many of the GT cars were loaded with options. Separate check mark on the option sheet for the interior décor group. Nothing to do with the GT package. Rob

    . Triple "B's" Garage

Yup, very bad emission control changes in 1968! The rebuild kits are the same from my experience. The early 68 carbs run very poorly and they dropped these changes soon there after. I wonder if most of the carbs with these extra air mixture screws were destined for California? Rob

    . Triple "B's" Garage

Just finished tuning a Holley List 3795 for a 1968 390 with a manual tranny. Same air mixture screws as the ones on Sheryl's List 3769. Carb ran like crap and after a long battle got the two mixture screws out and reset. Totally changes the way the carb idles and its low rpm characteristics...

    1968 Auto transmission to manual

You will need the Z bar and sometimes they are a bear around the exhaust manifolds or if you have headers. I have a Mustang used parts seller in my area that can provide most of the stuff. You will want a new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I would not waste my time on a Toploader 4...

    1968 Fog Light Pedestal

Arlie, I can give you the rest of my square washers. I have some 20 sets of them (4 per installation on car). Sounds like you will be the new source for these items. Great job!! Rob

    1968 Engine update

Be sure to use an oil pump pre-lube device to ensure the lifters are pumped up. You will need a strong reversible drill motor! https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/oil-pump-primers/make/ford/engine-size/4-7l-289 I always go through the firing order (15426378) 90 degrees at a time on...

    1968 Drip rail

My GT/CS with a vinyl top had these retainers on it. I felt that they were stainless but were riveted on? I can still get a pick of them if needed. They had two rivets. One in the back near the bottom of the drip rail and one in the front in a similar place. Rob
