    1968 Build Sheet Found

I agree! I bought my '69 from the widow of the original owner and it came with a lot of original documentation. Too bad my CS didn't come with the same but we can't have everything.

    1968 Build Sheet Found

Thanks again. Keeping in mind the fact that San Jose workers tended to stick to the rules more closely, were build sheets officially meant to be disposed of (and thus why San Jose sheets are rare)?

Maybe I'm just dense, but it only let me vote for 1?

    1968 Build Sheet Found

It does help! That was just the answer I was looking for. I didn't realize it was essentially left to the whim of the worker to discard or retain a sheet (I guess San Jose guys walked to the beat of their own drum), and that there could conceivably be more than one sheet per car.

    1968 Build Sheet Found

Thanks! I was glad to find it. I guess my question is: Why are San Jose build sheets so uncommon and why did some cars get them while others (vast majority?) didn't?

    1968 Build Sheet Found

Here's mine that I just discovered tonight. I got a glimpse of it while peering under the seat with a light. It is incredible fragile but I was able to carefully remove it and unfold it. I've got it in one of those plastic sleeves that Marti Reports come in.

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

I apologize guys. I still haven't taken any good pics of the car. However, I pulled the driver's seat out (it was loose on the track) and was able to gingerly retrieve this: I had spotted it with a shop light while investigating why the driver side seat was loose. I think it's fixed now. The...

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

Thanks for the advice and kind offers! I hope to get the car home this weekend and I can then better ascertain what I might need.

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

Thanks! How was the debut stage car different? I don't have the pedestals but some original Lucas lights went with the deal so I'll need to replace the current aftermarket ones at some point and replace the incorrect '67 grill with a CS grill or a reproduction thereof (if there is one).

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

Oh, okay. I didn't realize (shoulder?) belts were standard in '68. I noted the rocker trim molding because it was listed as an option when filling out my "garage" information.

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

Thanks for the kind comments gentlemen, and the warm welcome! I created a garage and posted my Marti report in the appropriate thread. I'm normally not crazy about vinyl tops but I do think the Parchment top complements the Acapulco Blue nicely. I also like the Parchment interior. I don't...

    Post your Marti Report here

Here's my Marti report. Kinda neat to see that my car and Mustanglvr's are "brothers" of sorts, originally together at Kemp Motor Company's lot over 40 years ago!

    1968 Out of the woodwork...

Hello folks! I have been a lurker on these forums, off and on, for years. I recently was able to finally purchase a GT/CS from a family friend who had owned it for 15-20 years and was the 3rd owner, as far as I know. I had wanted this car for a long time. It has been sitting in a rather large...

When did you know that you wanted a 1968 GT/CS?

Same here. I don't actually own a CS either. I had seen sporadic pics of California Specials over the years, but couldn't say they particularly tickled my fancy. A while back, I saw one in person for the first time ever and my attitude has drastically changed. The car simply has a presence not...
