1968 Ford Mustang California Special Coupe
Bid for the chance to own a 1968 Ford Mustang California Special Coupe at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #197,867.
Finished from the factory in Seafoam Green, the car was painted in its current shade of red at some point under prior ownership and has a black vinyl roof and black side stripes. Additional details include California Special badging and Thunderbird-sourced taillights as well as grille-mounted auxiliary lights, faux side scoops, and turn signals integrated into the hood.
Steel 14″ wheels wear GT-logo hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car was optioned with power steering from the factory, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl. Air conditioning is fitted, and the retro-style radio does not work.
The steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership.
The 289ci V8 was factory rated at 195 horsepower and sends power to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
Additional photos showing the underside are included in the gallery below.
The Deluxe Marti Report shows that the car was built on April 3, 1968, and lists factory equipment and production statistics.
The vehicle is being sold on its Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada.
