First, welcome to the site Dale. Second, where did you get the information about there was only 115 68 4spd cars built? As to keeping it or selling, that is a personal prefrence. The price of the car is determined its overall condition and how much someone is willing to pay for it. It would be nice if you could post some pics on this site, then you will get alot more imput. From Jason's post:

I am going to post to this thread info taken from Elite reports about engine size in the number of CS's. The data shows 4118 California Specials which means the HCS cars are included in these numbers. Here is what I have found so far from the Elite Marti reports:

428 4bbl, 12 made, 3 were California Specials (we know that at least 2 of the 3 were automatics) and 9 were High Country Specials
of the 9 HCS 5 were automatics and 4 were standards
I have also found out the first Cobra Jet made at the Sane Jose plant was a California Special!

390 4bbl, 215 made, 104 of those were automatics
390 4bbl, 215 made, 111 of those were manuals

390 2bbl, 76 made ALL of those were automatics
1 of the 76 390 2bbl's is a High Country Special
It is confirmed that a X code can be a factory GT

289 2bbl, 2705 made 2320 of those were automatics
289 2bbl, 2705 made 385 of those were manuals (230 w/3speed & 155 w/4speed)

302 4bbl, 962 made 658 of those were automatics
302 4bbl, 962 made 304 of those were manuals

200 I6 1bbl, 148 made 47 of those were automatics
200 I6 1bbl, 148 made 101 of those were manuals

where did you get the information about there was only 115 68 4spd cars built?

Arlie, I think I am missing something here. Jason has 155, 289, 4spd., CSs produced, and that makes sense, you guys are the experts. I was just looking at, " 115, 289, 4spd., cars built". John

My guess is that it's a typo. Jason's post says 155. 115 / 155 they're sort of the same.

Arlie, I think I am missing something here. I still don't get to 115, 289, 4spd cars built. I'm sure its just me not seeing something. John

Yes Dale that is a low number, and if it wasn't I'm sure you will still love owning and driving a California Special. In my opinion the best looking Mustang produced in 68. John

AM radio, tinted glass, argent wheels, heavy duty suspansion. 289/2v. 3.00 axle. found the car inside back room of a friends body shop. She need to be painted all ready in primer, engine rebuilt and on engine stand. car is very very stright, and no rust ever.just a real nice car.
