I would like to have you look at it. Its my Favorite color combo of all. It's got 10 bids already, but it doesn't close out 'til next week. Plus, I won't bid if anyone here is.

that is a great car Neil and i agree i love raven black cars (like em even more with red interior) but after really going over the pics this car is soiid. Ya the exhaust is wrong, and ya the stripes are off,and other "small details" but those can be fixed so easily. Concern i did notice mechanically was the fact he is running headers on that car and the car has PS... that is gonna burn that slave cylinder up quick.

Yep, I noticed those issues plus a several others, but nothing too major. The headers would be history as far as I'm concerned. (I already have a brand new 'H' pipe to attach to stock exhaust manifolds)
My major concers would be cowls, frame, torque boxes, and floorpans. Beauty IS only skin deep, especially on 40+ year old cars.

Agreed i looked at a 67 fastback a few years back (k code car) and the owner specified it was fully restored. The underside was "redone" but upon further inspection he has filled the rust holes with bondo and smoothed it out and shot it with red oxide... Several other areas he did this too.. He acted "shocked" that his "restoration shop" had done this.. Ya see new things everyday haha

That is precisely why I'd like a 'close up and personal' look-see.
Luckily 390gtmustang is closeby and offered to look at the car.

I would definately be leary of the red oxide. If it is red oxide primer it will do nothing to prevent rust unless a sealer coat is applied over it. Primer is porous to help paint stick to it. Without a sealer coat of paint primer absorbs water and acts like a sponge; a perfect environment to promote rust not prevent it.

I'm not seeing any definitive evidence of Bondo in the photos, but that's why its preferable to have someone do a 'hands-on' inspection before making any commitment. Have you seen the car/ or detect something in the photos? The more info, the better.

Are we talking about the same car??

Neil

Yes, black C-code with an automatic.
We don't know how many of those were built so I ordered a one-of-one report from Marti.

Here are some others I'm going to order, but it's only a partial list.

C-Auto-Red
C-Auto-Tahoe
C-Auto-Brit

C-4speed-Seafoam
C-4speed-Red
C-4speed-Highland
J-Auto-Lime Gold
J-Auto-Highland

X-Auto-Lime

We have a long way to go with this research but the reports are expensive so I'm in no rush to get it done.

Arlie, this car has 65B or deluxe interior. Is that your query? Color code A with 65B? or 65A, 65B, 65C, & 65D, together?

I'm still waiting for my J code, White, report. You'll have a copy as soon as it gets here.

No, all I'm interested in is how many Raven Black GT/CSs were equipped with 289 engines and automatic transmissions.
Or another way to look at it; how many 289 automatic cars were painted Raven Black.

The one-of-one report give us this information.

I have an X-Auto-Lime... I have a regular Marti for it, but not a super expensive one. I have the framed, expensive report on another car that makes it a 1-of-1, but it's lame--something like, "...the only one sold with white sidewall tires in this color and engine/transmission code from this dealer..." Not really special. Is that the report you're wanting on the X-Lime CS?

This car was on Ebay with 3 very poor pictures about 5 months ago. It was located in Maine at the time. It bid to 8 K. I spoke with the owner and he offered it for 9 K. Was going to purchase but getting transport out of Maine to California was tough. It was relisted with a few more pics and sold for 13 K. Now the present seller has redone the bottom and really cleaned it up. I have the Marti somewhere. The car was originally from San Diego where I live and the owner in Maine still had the Black plates.
