Are all GT/CS's true GT's?

BrandonB,
what you have are the optional chrome wheels. In '68 you could order the "GT" style wheels as an option but they came with the plain center caps. If you want you can buy the "GT" emblems and but them on your center caps. The standard "GT" wheels are actually argent (silver) and not chrome, but many asked for the chrome wheels with the "GT" option inplace of the argent wheels.

In my book "Mustang the original muscle car" by Randy Leffingwell its states that

"Its appearance reflects some of the subtley Carrol Shelby advocated in his Mustang's early days. The GT grille bars were deleted as was the pony, and the small, round fog lights were replaced with Marchal (later with Lucas) driving lights. the GT/CS package was a $194.31 option, which did not include the $146.71 GT package. In fact, it appears that fewer than 8 percent of GT/CS cars were also GTs."

So there ya go =/, funny thing is I bought this book yesterday

The unusual thing is if you got the GT/CS and GT options, Ford did not give you a break on the GT option even though many of the GT items where deleted by the GT/CS package. The only additions for the GT option that went on a CS where: Dual Exhaust (to include the rear valance), Heavier Suspension. and GT wheels. That is why it is easy to pass a non-GT CS off as a GT because visually all you need to do is get dual exhaust and wheels. It is hard to examine the suspension components unless you crawl under the car and measure parts.

Brandon,
Check www.karmustang.com for the GT emblems. That is by far NOT the only place. Go there and request a catalog. They have a great site. You can also check with Mannnny other sites. Mustangs unlimited ships the same day!
