Brake rotor removal

Hi all,

This winter's project-

As part of an overall bigger project of front (and rear) suspension rebuild on the CS, I'm getting ready to pull the front disc brake rotors and take them in to get them turned.

I can see that the rotor and wheel bearing assembly is held on to the spindle with a nut and split pin.

Question- Is there any tricks to pulling the rotor off the spindle? Do I need a pulley puller? Or will it slide off (maybe with a little muscle?)

Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff, My front rotors and spindle assy is all one piece. I don't know if small block rotors are different from BB rotors. I just took the whole units in for turning. Good Luck. Mike

Once the caliper is removed the rotor slides right off, shouldn't take any muscle at all, except to hold it up. It's heavy.

Arlie,

The rotor assembly came right off without any effort. Thanks.

The upper control arm tapered pin and the spindle casting was a different story. More than a couple of hard whacks with a good-sized hammer helped separate them.
