Just saw a T code C/S on E-Bay. Looks like a GOOD project car. I think we discussed this car some months ago - belonging to a nice young fellow, south of Nasheville, TN.

What do you think a fair/nominal price should be? Seems like everything is there except eng & transmission. It does have the suspension upgrade & Shelby wheels, although the suspension would have to be put back to the 6 cyl config to keep it original. (Which is what I would do)

I have talked to this guy about 3-4 months ago, I think the price is too high. I believe that true GT/CS enthusiasts will put back the 6cil engine. Thats what I would do. I don't remember his exact asking price but I believe it was 7K...now price is up??

I agree it seems too high, especially if one was going too be all stock, which BTW is what I would do. But remember "what one wants is not always what one gets". I bet in this market if someone offered over $7k it would be sold. Just my .02 cents worth.

I too spoke with this young man last nite (6-25-08) and he seems to be of a mind of $8K+. I feel this is too high considering the amount of work to do (basically starting at ground zero) and acquiring the engine, transmission and all the peripheral parts required. I would do no less than a rotisserie resto, putting things back to the original bone stock configuration. A LOT of work & $$$. Too bad, the car is within a reasonable distance from me, and I could retrieve it easily enough. Oh well, another will surely come along sooner or later.

I`d leave the suspension upgrade, and drop in a 428 SCJ in it. Mine`s a T code with a 289 4V and thats what I`d like to do with it. :icon_ecst
Even a 390 would be nice.
It would be a bit more expensive on gas though just to drive it to the store and back.
It would be just a quick trip though, lol.

Neil,

Give me a call, I have a proposition for you!

By the way for everyone else. The little amount of sheetmetal work that the car STILL required the first time I advertised the car has been completed to the tune of about $1,000. I have acquired several other parts for the car that I did not have the first time the car was advertised.

I trust everyone will have a safe and prosperous 4th of July!

I wonder whats the use of buying a T code 6 banger if your gonna drop a big block in it anyway? Is it for the rarity and that at some point you can bring it back to Marti and show it as a T code in later life?

Im not one for originality and or "the need...the need for speed (TopGun)" but would think you would just go C or J code powerplants. Or just paint it red so it looks fast.

Mine had already been changed over to a V8 when I bought it.

I think we`ve established here on this site that as long as you keep the original parts and don`t change anything you can`t change back, then do anything you want with your car.

Mine did`nt have the original inline 6 engine still with it when I bought it, so it can never be original, but the V8 engine that is in it now, is the type that came stock in these cars.

BTW Robert,
these cars don`t have to be red or have a V8 under the hood to look fast.:teleport:

So you can drop in that Thunderbird SC Supercharged 3.8 and tell people it still has the original six cylinder in it.

Steve

Well......almost. But for the sake of all the veterans of this site I won't go there again.:lipsseal:

I actually like the T code and definitely think its fast enough (at least for me). It qwould be nice to pop the hood and see an in-line 6? IMO

I do understand in some cases its not possible to go back to stock so not so dont make any calls of spoiling the heritage.

AND go Steve!! I like the idea of dropping the SC 3.8 supercharger in just to see if we can get Arlie "to go there"! (sorry Arlie)

Well, I've opted not to purchase & take on the C/S T code in TN. Its virtually a ground zero project, at too high of a starting price for what it is (IMHO). I spoke with the owner tonite and declined his offer of $7K, with him retaining the Shelby wheels - which I would have reconditioned & sold in order to recoup part of the purchase price. I had guesstimated the resto costs, and figured it to be $13K+/- plus the cost of the car, and my labor @ zero $, and the only part of the project I would have to outsource would be the paint application (with me doing the grunt work & prep).
With all the talk re: 6 cyl's, I found a site, Fordsix.com that was interesting for 6 cyl enthusiasts.

Life is hard. I guess I'm stuck with my J code, P/S, P/B, A/C, A/T CS.
(Unless aemoo28 will take it off my hands)

I think that you made a very wise decision NOT to purchase. If car had the drivetrain...it would be another story.
