1968 correct rearview mirror?

I am pondering replacing the rear view mirror in my car because a chunk of rubber trim is missing off a corner.

I would like to know what is the correct day/night arm mechanism for this mirror.

Mine has a side to side arm yet I 've also seen the more conventional front to back tab.....which is correct? or was there a famous mid production year change?

Yes, mid year change. Not sure of the date.
