I think I need to add some freon to my car's A/C system, but the PO did not state whether he charged it with R-12 or R-134. Is there a way to determine which is currently in the system without dumping the charge?

The fittings are different. I'll take some measurements and pics for you and email them to you--unless someone here beats me to it.

Neil,

I can't think of a way to tell. I'm not an AC guy or a mechanic, but I do work on my own car's AC systems. On my 67' I converted to R134, but left the OEM fittings. They use different oils so they that had to be changed. So if the PO did as I did, you wouldn't know.

I've located 2 cans of R-12. The car has the original King valves, so I'm going to assume its R-12 in the system. Worst case scenario; dump the system, flush, vacuum, refill with R-134 (and oil).

What is air conditioning? Do cars have airconditioning? My cars have heaters and windows! Today my window is rolled up and the heater is on!

Does air conditioning "condition" your hair?

I hear it conditions the skin, Lord knows we don't need any "moisturizer" around here.
