This weekend I rebuilt my front vent windows, replacing the seals, chrome levers and window run weatherstrip. So I thought I've post some photos of the process in case it helps someone in the future.

To replace the seal you need to remove the factory rivets holding the division bar to the vent window frame. I've read posts and watched videos and everyone seems to grind out the head of these rivets with a grinder or Dremel. But to me it seemed much easier to simply drill the rivets out on the back side. There's less chance of slipping with the grinder and damaging the division bar.

After replacing the window seal, I re-attached the division bar with some small screws & nuts. I was originally going to use rivets, but my rivet gun head is too large to fit in the division bar channel.

You need to be careful that the screw heads aren't too thick, otherwise the door glass runner channel (the long channel that attaches to the back of the vent window) won't sit snuggly inside the division bar. So I ground down the screw heads until they were shallow enough.

Photos below show the screws before and after grinding, plus the nuts on the back side. These screws obviously don't match the factory flat head rivets, but this area is invisible once the vent windows are re-installed in the door.

The vent window seals were easy enough to install in the frame. Then the division bar gets installed, and the small metal tabs in the seal need to be bent over to hold it in place.

I used a sharpie to mark the glass runner channel before I disassembled, which was helpful to be sure I got it lined back up again. The photo below shows the door glass runner before pushing it fully into the division bar.

Here are some shots of the re-assembly order of the various washers, nylon bushings, spring and nut that give the vent window pivot it's tension.

And finally, here's where each of the various bolts and allen head shafts go once the vent window assembly is re-installed in the door.

I am curious why you removed the rivets. there is no need to when replacing the seal. Did you rechrome the frame?

I had multiple vent windows and took the best parts from each.
