From the Site, looks like reserve was 1.8mil... did not see the auction but maybe that was high bid.

Comments on the street at the B-J auction about this car include: it lacks the original Conelec fuel injection system, missing the experimental - independent rear suspension, and it doesn't have a Shelby issued VIN number. Which would give it a direct connection to Shelby America.

The SAAC forum thread on the Green Hornet says that what appeared to be the last "real" bid was only $300K and that according to insiders the reserve was $2M.

They also talked about prices being down on Shelby's, maybe due to the fact that there were over 60 offered for sale (BJ or all Arizona auctions, not sure).

...I think you, SAAC and Scott nailed it. Probably as also mentioned, an expected rush of sellers out to capitalize on Carroll's passing.

I always thought "Green Hornet" had a Shelby VIN, but it nonetheless goes to show that buyers are wising up and not putting as much value on hype...

If you watched the auction all the way to the end on Sunday they interviewed Craig Jackson and he stated that he decided that he couldn't sell the car after all. I can't blame him although I wouldn't be surprised to see the car show up at another B.J. auction in the near future.

Cheers,

Ron
