For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang California Special Numbers matching 289 V8 with a 3 speed manual transmission. Only 73,000 miles on the original drivetrain. The registration is current and expires in April 2024. Provenance: An authentic California car for its entire existence. Originally owned and then passed to a nephew who drove it from 1986-1991. Stored in a Silver Lake, CA garage from 1991 until my purchase in 2020. The provided photo showcases its condition after being stored for 30 years. Mechanical Restoration: Comprehensive mechanical overhaul since 2020. Replacements include: fuel lines, fuel tank, fluids, clutch, 3-core aluminum radiator, bushings, shocks, tires (BF Goodrich), and more. Engine updates: valve gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, oil pan, fuel filter, air filter, starter, spark plugs, distributor , new distributor wires, and all drive belts. The result? A car that starts immediately and offers a dream-like drive. Exterior: Original paint with characteristic patina. Sides are well-preserved, but the roof, trunk, and hood show signs of wear. Zero rust – a testament to its California heritage and garage storage. Some external parts were replaced, but all original pieces are available and included in the sale. Interior: Primarily original with some upgrades for preservation. Replacements: carpet, front door panels, steering wheel, dashboard, and two trim pieces. Original seats, which remain in outstanding condition.
