Old and new and ...both?

Let me first say that I'm not at all trying to instigate anything here. I'm just curious and passionate about these cars (old and new) and wondered how many of you one day would want a new gen CS next to the old. For me, pretty soon after the new CSs became available, I knew I had to have one. and, NO, I don't work for Ford's Marketing Division ;-)

So, with that said-

How many '68 CS owners are planning to one day get a new gen CS?
And conversely, how many new gen CS owners one day would like a '68?
How many already have both?

As much as I like the new CS, I have this nagging vision of me buying a cheap '05 V6, installing a ducktail spoiler trunk lid, tail lights that mimic the original, a GT500KR hood and 5.4 supercharged engine, the 07 CS front and rear valances, grill and stripes that look like the 07/08 but have the "GT/CS" on the side scoop instead of fender. I just think I'd be happier with that, even though it wouldn't be an "original CS".

Steve (Should we start a poll on whether or not I've finally gone off my rocker?)

Steve,

I remember when those first spy shots of the new CS came out. I was not a fan of the stripe and where they placed the GT/CS script. I was kind of disappointed that Ford didn't do more to make it look like the original. But after awhile, the new styling and it's uniqueness grew on me...except for a LONG time, I was not a fan of the black stripe on the black CS. So what did I end up with? I'm OK with the satin stripe now. I think the subtleness of the car really turns a lot of heads. People are not sure what it is at first.

Ok, a Steve's off his rocker poll? Naw, I think that goes without saying;-)

well, i'm already there, i have an 08 and working on my 68 restoration. warning!!!! it happened alot quicker than i thought it would! watch out for those crafty ford salesman. they will sell you a cs and you won't know what happened untill its too late.
i think ford did the new gen right. they didn't copy the 68 to every t. they gave it a 2008 styling of its own, but still keeping the original essence of the cs. i have had people tell me they like the look of my 08 cs better than the 08 gt500 shelby. they have been side by side a few times at the tint shop and at the dealer. those comments made my day!

AH! rvrtrash, please consider using a V8, as all newer Cali's must be a GT. Everything else I completely agree with and would like to do to my '08 to make it a true Cali. Why in the world do we not have the correct tail end on our new GT/CS cars? Hmm, does anyone have ANY say with the Ford people?!?

Will it be difficult for me to find a Raven black '68 CS? I have a little patience... little...little bit....

AND I like how people do the double take with my black satin stripe too! (miller511).

I admit when the new GT/CS came out I was disappointed that there weren't more cues to the 68 version. But over time it has grown on me too.

There have been a number of times I would see one and say what is that? And then realize it was a GT/CS.

So if I was in the market for a late model Mustang I would definitely consider a GT/CS. Whether I owned a 68 or not.

Not sure how to answer that in the poll above.

If it wasn't for the lack of room in the back seat I'd probably already have a new one. With a 9 year old it just isn't practical at this stage. Once I'm debt free in about 3 years I'll find me one or like Steve I'll create my own. After Ford went back to the original Mustang look I started contemplating getting a new Mustang and making a modern CS, I never dreamed Ford would actually do it.

...I agree the poll doesn't cover all the bases...

I agree. Perhaps not enough thought on the poll. We could slice and dice the poll many different ways with more choices.

But I assumed that if people are here on this site, they probably already have a '68 or an '07/'08.

Hey, it's all in fun...what other choices would you all like to see?

...Oh, it's great fun indeed Jeff! 'Just that there was no place for me to answer that I don't intend to buy a new generation model. But let me also say that it's beyond great that Ford produced them again and there is so much new excitement and enthusiasm with their proud owners.

My reason is that I like to understand, work on and maintain my own Mustangs as opposed to having to be re-trained....I'm just not that smart ;-)

Likewise - it's so neat to see so many of you who have both new & old. Had I not become so over-the-top obsessed w/ 68s before the new ones arrived, things may have been different.

Keep up the great (fun) work :)

Who had the red GT\CS that worked for Ford, added all the options and then sold it? Putting the fogs in the center like the Shelby and losing the horse like the original? Sick.

Otherwise I "third" Steve and go for the "King of the Road" look but would spring for the V8 and pimp it. But right now Im happy with my 68 and Defender 4x...that way I got all terrain covered.

Jeff nice side by side shot..my what a big antenna yours has...my 68 is envious. LOL.

Robert

Update: after reading FireFox's thread I would add buying a Couger....holly shiznat do those t-bird tailight look dope. (stepping into flame suit)

Now this what I would say add to my collection. I know of someone in my area that has one like this, but has white strips like mine. I need to get a picture of mine next to there's this summer, keeping my fingers crossed.

Can't vote. The 3 choices don't fit my ststus. My single '68 C/S, with no immediate plans for a new one.
