I was looking through a June issue 2008 of OLD-CAR price guide.
Under ford Mustang here is what I found no particular mention of the GT/CS but some intresting notes:

1968 Hard-Top
condition 1 through 6 being best:
1=$900
2=$2,820
3=$4,700
4=$10,580
6=$23,500
notes:
add 10% for 390 engine
add 30% for 428 cid engine code (R)
add 15% for California special trim
add 200% for 135 series? what is series 135?

The 135s were the first few (100?) 1968.5 428CJ fastback Mustangs. They were all white cars, IIRC, and low optioned. I think a lot or most were used on the track. There may be more info on the 135 series cars on the CJ Forum.

Hate to be harsh, all these price guides are crap. They are all over the place and do not relate to real world. The reality is, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay, not what some price guide says it's worth.

The only thing I have ever used any of these things for is insurance. I call Haggerty with the highest amount found and insure my cars for that.

135 cars were built from the factory for professional drag racers. They had 6 of the remaining 12 at the Carlisle CJ Reunion this year.

If you need a higher price, check out NADA. It has California Special listed and then able to add options.
