The smog system on my 4-speed car doesn't have the rails that I'm used to seeing on most cars that have manual transmissions. All it has is a connection at the #1 cylinder and another at #8.

Is this setup correct or am I missing something?

I'm not sure what engine you have, but what you show is correct for 289 and incorrect for 302. Can't see all the smog to know if the rest is correct.

Thanks for the info Scott.

It's a 289 2V. The rest of the system is just the pump and whatever the can-thing does.

The long hose should be up much higher. It should go close to the dist cap and close to the breather cap and over the valve cover. But you have all the right parts unless you want to start talking about clamps, one is wrong. You could also check the dates on the canister and pump. The hose from the pump to the canister is correct but I can't see the numbers on the other hoses.

And there should be a bracket under the hose clamp on the right side of the canister (viewed from the front of the car)...I can't tell if there is one or not.

Nope, no bracket. Is it the same bracket as the one in this photo of a '69 Boss 302 engine?

Impossible to find?

I don't know if it's the same as the Boss bracket or not. It looks similar to the CJ bracket shown here ( http://428cobrajet.com/id-smog.html ), but yours shouldn't have the notching near the hole, and probably has a different part number. I would say the Boss bracket and the bracket you need are the same, but I don't know for sure.

The 69 Boss canister bracket has a different engineering number (and is shaped slightly different) from the 68 Small block one

Plenty of Boss wish they were the same ;) Took me about 18 years to get mine

Jeff,

Do the small block brackets have the same eng number as the CJ ones, just stamped different, or do they have a different eng number?

There is some good information in, "Mustang & Ford Small Block V8 1962-1969, Volumes I & II", by Bob Mannel.

Attached is a photo from that book.
