New hood and scoop

Got the new hood and scoop painted and back on the car. The scoop was just enough to cover up my air cleaner after installing the Holley 174 blower. I still have not been able to find some "Supercharged" script for the scoop that I like.

:grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:

looks cool. can't say I would do it on my CS but I will probably do that on my 68.5 CJ clone/green hornet clone project.

I think it looks good. Is it a factory scoop with the turn signals in the back?

Looks good to me. I'm still trying to decide if I want to put the 68 428CJ ram air setup on my car once the new engine is in. Part of me says since it's not a true "R" code car leave the hood alone. The other option I've thought about is finding me a wrecked CJ and get the hood off of it and store my CS hood away. I've got time to decide that one.

I wasn't too keen about putting it on the GT/CS either, but I really wanted the blower. So the original engine will get freshened up and go into storage with the hood.

If you like the look, I say go for it. My hood is going into storage.

Looks great Joe!. It looks like even with the scoop you don't have much room to spare. With the scoop, those wheels, and the black on white paint, most people should realize they had better think twice about challenging you. Although, the fuzzy dice do take away a little of the intimidation factor!!!:grin:

Perfect!! I just ordered 2 of them. Thanks!!!!

Glad I could help. I would've wanted something that copied the CS script and that was as close as I found.:thumb: Your car looks great, by the way.

Thanks, Arlie. You're right about not much room to spare. In fact, some work had to be done to the inside of the scoop to keep the air cleaner from touching.

That sounds like a good idea Don. You could store your original hood away for safe keeping until the day you decide to change engines again.:wink:

Looks awesome Joe, it's like placing the final piece of a puzzle on to bring it all together. The GTCS is such a neat looking little car with all the Shelby pieces added on but after seeing this added on it will always seem as if somethings missing on mine now. Mine may sport one in the future just simply for the look and I may have a hood in hiding as well.

Have been pricing the 68.5 CJ Ram Air set-up the past few days and man is it ever expensive. I have some friends here locally that deal strictly with Shelby's and big block cars. Talked to them and they may be able to help me out in that area. Hopefully I can save a little going that route. Some of my local club members have also commented that I should go ahead and add the ram air along with the striping to make it look like a true 428 CJ car. I'm still going to wait until everything is in and take a step back and then decide. Besides, it doesn't have to be done right away. Besides, I kinda like the idea of it looking stock on the outside (Wolf in Sheeps clothing). :grin:

I had a friend many moons ago who had his original steel rims widened. He was going for the stock looking wolf in sheeps clothing as well. It worked really well to get more rubber on the ground without being easily noticed.

if your buddies have original cj scoops and parts I would be interested if you pass or they have extras at reasonable prices. If neither work out and if I decide to put one on I will do the repro route.

Hey Don, have you thought about a repop for your set up?

Steve;
Thanks for the link. I may go that route.

Jason;
If they (friends) don't have anything or don't want to get rid of any of it. I'll let you know. They are pretty much restoration and car sales more than a parts place. I have been able to get some stuff off them from time to time.
