$500 to install a headliner is insane. I had a shop here quote $150. It's probably a 2-4 hour job for a professional working alone. Both windows do need to be removed but you can do that if you want. Just remove the trim, cut the rubber, and push out the window. Of course putting the windows back in is the fun part. Even that is more annoying than difficult. You will need to puchase new window rubber at around $20 each and a headliner should cost $30 from any of the Mustang vendors.

My headliner install was $120.00 and I took both windows out myself also. On the alt., check around, you should be able to get it rebuilt for a lot less than $125.00. On the "battery box", if it's just the tray that's bad, get a good repo. and then you can always replace it with NOS when you find it. If it's the inner fender that's gone, what I did was get a repop and cut the top strap off. I carefully cut my inner fender away, leaving the top strap with the VIN stamped in it, and then welded the repop in place. It didn't fit exactly but was close when I got done, and even with the fenders off, the body shop I took it too didn't notice I'd replaced it 'till I showed them. I can send you pics or post here if you want.
