Whats with the color? It looks really washed out and/or faded.

Nice looking car. Wasn't aware they made a "gold" stripe for the GT/CS. The aftermarket seats look nice. Not to sure what color that actually is though. Would like to see a Marti Report on this one.

I know we all agreed to be nicer and not pick apart the cars on eBay but this one is killing me due to the below comment made by the seller:

His attention to detail and extensive mechanical Background has restored an old favorite to an unrivaled standard.

Does that make it fair game for constructive criticism?

It's the Lucas lights that are driving me crazy. It looks like he installed a European set since one seeems to be a fog light and the other seems to be a driving light. From what I understand Europeans installed the driving lights away from oncoming traffic as to not blind the drivers.

Need a "Marti"

I think this is a prety nice looking Mustang. But the seller needs to tell me why he added the little horse badge on the trunk lid, and holes for the hood twist locks are so small not larger like the ones on CS's. Last but not least, the fog lights are not like any I have ever seen before on a CS.
Yes I need a "Marti" on this car. John

It would also help to have some better pics in the trunk, you know, back toward the tail light brace!

I'm new to the C/S concept (I just purchased my first one) but I did do some research prior to buying one. A Marti report would be required to verify authenticity, but the the seller's description and photos depict quite a few variations of a C/S. I've restored quite a few '68's, and I spotted about 10 inconsistancies for a C/S.

Upon closer inspection it looks to me like both lights are fog lights but one seems to be hazed over. They are the proper lights but they are on the standard Lucas posts instead of the proper GT/CS posts.

And of course we have the black tail light doors and the argent tail light panel. Can't tell for sure but it looks like the grille is painted black.

It looks like the Thunderbird color, "Dusty Rose," or something like that--? I'd also like to see the Marti report!

The seller of this Mustang is telling us as the buyers that it is, "Original", and a "True GT/CS". So the seller is telling me that the value of this Mustang is determined by the fact that it is a California Special in original condition.
Well to me it is just another nice looking "clone", and even if the seller could get a Marti Report saying it is a CS, it still is not in original condition as stated on e-bay. I do understand why people are cloning our cool looking cars, but they are what they are, "CLONES". John

As Loomis is close by...

...and after receiving a call from "Ponygal", we decided to take a drive & check this one out.

One thing is for certain; this is not a car for the GT/CS purist. It is however, a very nice, well organized, fun to drive and powerful cruiser!
Although I'm not ready to say it's a true CS, the owner has a Marti on order that he says he'll post early next week.

The car appears to be a rotisserie job and is spotless top to bottom. Interior is custom w/ full reclining seats, awesome am/fm cassette CD and factory air that works excellent. Upon driving, I felt I could easily break the rear tires loose while the PS, PB and overall handling was also excellent. I can go on & on, but would rather answer specific questions than point out all the non - standard mods of which there are many. She's definately a "built to personal taste" car rather than a restoration, but it's quality I believe is outstanding! I took some more pics for your parusal... Positively worth seeing if you love to drive :) In addition; owner "Obie" and family were wonderful to talk to as well as a 40 yr. veteran of Sacramento and Roseville Ford dealerships (parts services)...

Thanks Tim, I am glad to hear that you looked at the Mustang and have found a nice, well taken-care-of car. As you say, the owner modified the car to fit his taste, and thats cool. The only problem I have is the words "original & True GT/CS"' used on e-bay. To each his own! John

Indeed John. I seriously would not mind owning this one as far as performance and overall pleasure goes. She'd be good to show as a restomod, yet a kick in the pants to drive! I give the owner benefit of doubt on his description while remembering that not everyone is as attached (or researched) to the specific type as we are - to his being justifyingly proud of what he has here. I believe its verified originality would only compliment its many revisions in this case...

Tim, I thank both you and TJ for taking the time to drive down to see this one with me. I agree that it is a really nice looking, well-organized vehicle, and has been very well taken care of. It definitely would show well, and it is truly a head-turner. Just sitting in the passenger seat while you drove it, I could really feel the power that it had, and I would have enjoyed taking a turn at the wheel although I know that it was getting pretty late by the time we got a chance to drive it. The seats were extremely comfortable, the interior was very well done, and the sound system was awesome. I would honestly be very proud to own this one, as a restomod, but I am not ready to give up my little ’68 Coupe yet.:icon_no:

...You have an excellent reason for "not yet ready..." Renee! ;-)

You are right. I love my pretty little coupe and I really enjoy driving her. I got lucky when I found this one. I still thank you for driving down to take a look at it for me since I never would have bought it without you looking it over first.
