I inspected this car today and I think it's right on the edge of being a good restoration candidate. The owner's father pulled it out of a wrecking yard in 1984, started restoring it, and of course life got in the way. It hasn't been touched since.

As far as I can tell it's been banged up two or three times. The metal tail light panel was replaced, the trunk lid is damaged, and one end cap is damaged. She has a replacement tail light surround and three tail light assemblies. I think the driver side quarter also was damaged because it seems to have more filler than is acceptable. I didn't see any frame damage or panel gap issues.
So we know it was hit on the left rear.

We also know it was hit on the right front because of the replacement front fender and hood, and the damaged top of the inner fender and radiator support. Since the battery box is rusted out it's probably easiest to cut out that entire corner.
The owner has a '68 grille, a Ford stone guard, a Ford valance, and one of the grille lower panels. She also has the original Lucas lights and the hood trim, so unless she has other parts she doesn't know about the car needs fog light brackets, pedestals, one lower trim panel, and a front bumper.
Although, the hood has a lot of surface rust. I'm not 100% sure it is worth saving.

So, that gets us to two damaged areas that may or may not be from the same wreck. But we also have a third damage area on the frame below the radiator.

We're not yet done with the body work.
The doors have their typical rust as do the tops of the inner fenders adjacent to the hood hinges.

And, believe or not, there is no rust-through on the roof or around any of the windows. The doors close beautifully, with a nice thunk. For that reason, and others, I think the odometer has not turned over (but I forgot to get a photo of it).

The front fender needs to have the emblem holes filled, and I would fill the Monte Carlo bar holes but that's just me. The shock towers are not cut!!!

The interior is also a mixed bag, but IMO it's in surprisingly good shape. Other than the exit lights someone installed, but I think the lower door trim may cover those holes. The attached photos pretty well show the rest of interior issues. Sitting outside for 37 years baked the rubber window seals, and warped the dash pad. You can see the high-tech alarm system to the left of the steering wheel.

I have a lot of other photos so just ask if you want to see any.

The bottom line is; is this car worth restoring to any stage? I think concours would be too expensive but it could possibly become a decent driver.
I think she's asking too much but the way prices are going who's to say.

Oh, two more things: it supposedly runs and they drove it on the trailer, and the engine is not original to the car but it is ‘68 engine.

What are your thoughts?

It had a hard life those first 15 years. C or J code? Salvaged title?
Definitely over priced in my opinion. Did you Marti this one? Door tag information on one of those pictures?

I for one, appreciate all of the personal time and money, you devote to these cars Arlie. Kudos.

The owner ordered a report. It just hasn’t arrived. The car seems to a basic C-code with power steering.
I’ll post the data plate tomorrow.

If it came out of a wrecking yard, would it not have a 'Salvage' title? A definite black mark.

Good point. I sent the owner a message asking about the title.

After running the numbers I'm not interested in the car. Too much bodywork for me, but I'll be happy to discuss it with anyone who may be interested.

In the craigslist ad, it says the title is missing.

Here’s the response from the owner.

No. It is missing. I have a bill of sale form from the DOL saying it can not be found in their archives. They told me that the buyer could use it to get a title but it is a process.
