Side Scoop Under Screen Material

Does anyone know what type of material goes under the side scoop screens. Is it painted black or is there some type of vinyl that goes there. Seems that this has been a topic in the past but I'm not sure of the proper way to restore these. Any help out there? Thanks

It's vinyl. I got mine from High Country Bob if I remember correctly.

I used 2 inch wide black vinyl electrican tape.

Hi Steve,
I used a piece of black rubber roofing it worked great, and almost any roofer will have a scrap piece. Joel
