Something for Neil & Marty...

[Midnight Special]

...My good friend, Gary is nearing completion of his impeccable 1930 Monocoupe with first firing of its ultra-rare Lambert R-266 engine. This is a seven year restoration to factory specs with as many original parts and old school craftsmanship. She'll be flying soon once all the bugs (and assurances) are worked out

The last photo is of Gary fueling one at age 17. Little did he know... ;-)

The only radial engines I've worked on are R2800 & 3350's (Convairs, DC-7's & Constellations).

Try as he'll might, we're just NOT going to achieve the horsepower mods he will likely suggest ;-)

Boy does that bring back the memories. I can almost smell the fresh dope and paint. There is nothing like the sound of a radial engine. I never worked on a Mono coupe but my boss use to talk about them.
I like the bump cowl and wheel fairing on the plane in the old picture.

I would love to hear that run. What is that one picture of the pile of tubes and pipes that looks like a radial on one end!

Nice shop as Marty says. Airplane shops seem to be large and roomy for some reason...
