Roy Rogers Riders' Club
Do kids play cowboys anymore?
To my knowledge, kids of recent years consider it old-fashioned.
But I grew up in the age of the Western. In those movies, you always knew who the bad guys were. And you always knew your heroes would be victorious.
Roy Rogers had his own group of fans called the "Roy Rogers Riders' Club." There were 10 rules you had to follow to be a member in good standing.
Many kids today would find them pretty lame. But as a former kid and Western fan, I still find them relevant.
- Be neat and clean.
- Be courteous and polite.
- Always obey your parents.
- Protect the weak and helpless.
- Be brave but never take chances.
- Study hard and learn all you can.
- Be kind to animals and care for them.
- Eat all your food and never waste any.
- Love God and go to Sunday school regularly.
- Always respect our flag and country.
Happy trails pardners....till we meet again.
