Trailering a GT/CS

I tried out my car hauler today, didn't haul the Mustang but rather a tractor. I've used the trailer for hauling a lot of fencing material but this was the first time I hauled any type of vehicle of sorts.

Not that I'm going to trailer my Mustang a lot but I think for any long trips I will more than likely trailer it. My question is for anyone that trailers their car. Where do you hook on the front end? I have the factory tie downs still on the back of the car so hooking there is a piece of cake but a quick look on the front end and I don't see any obvious spot to hook.

Any other advice on tying it on?

Thanks for any response.

Hook, I have always tied down to the rear axle and front A arms then chocked all the wheels front and back. I do it this way so the car still has suspension travel and will not get beat up on what we call roads here in the mountains of Colorado.
Don't know if this is technically correct but it has worked for me, Mark.

Thanks Mark, anyone else have any recommendations? I like the suspension idea hadn't thought about that, the tractor we hauled today was a little short on suspension so that didn't factor in so I hadn't thought about that.

Don is right. Least that is what we did. Also, you can by the hold downs for the rear frame and bolt them on. Some cars still have them on. We took ours off because they were pitted and damaged and didn't put a set on. You can buy these in some of the magazines, then you would need the instruction sticker which is installed under your rear license plate.

I learned the hard way when I first bought my HCS to be careful on the placement of the straps / chain that you attach to the front. I was all excited to pull my new pride and joy off the trailer (I had trailered it from Wichita, KS back to Northern, CO) and take her for a spin only to find that I had placed the hold-downs too close to the radiator and had damaged the valve-cock in transit. I had to wait another 3 days for the repair. Lesson learned! If you can find them, there is also a harness type of strap that goes around each wheel that works pretty well and keeps the suspension in play.

My 2 cents - Craig
