Wondering Why? Styling Cues from the 07 Shelby

First off, I must say that I absolutely love my 07 GT/CS, but I'm a little disappointed being a mustang enthusiast since my first 67 Plain-Jane.

I was very excited to see a new version of this rare classic come out, but in 1968 they had Shelby styling cues that included the tail lights and spoilers. In the new version, they only changed out the rear diffuser to match the Shelby - I'm wondering why they didn't install the Shelby spoiler as well, not to mention the grill treatments and such.

I love the car, and it has all the bells and whistles, but for the most part, anyone can create a GT/CS clone from a stock GT with a sticker and a $150.00 rear diffuser.

I don't mean to sound harse, I'm just a person who loves everything about Mustang heritage and would like to see things remain the same in some respects that is.

Your talking about the very things we first discussed when we here on the site saw the first pictures of the 07 GT/CS. Why there was not more Shelby influence or even a little more influence from the 68 GT/CS (other than the backwards stripe). It would of been nice to have seen some actual old style Shelby tail lights or something to that effect. The fact that Ford basically made it a glorified GT is what turned me off about the car. Plus, the fact that the dealers are putting such a mark up on the car from MSRP that it's not funny. It's unfortunate that Ford is letting their independent dealers kill them. Of course you also have to look at the fact that this particular car was not aimed at the baby boomer generation. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it's styling. Bottom line is it's still a Mustang and that's what counts. It'll have to grow on me for a little longer though.

This was a picture that I uploaded a while back (don't remember where or when), but this rendition of the CS seems to take more styling ques from the original CS. I agree that the new CS just seems to be a glorified GT. I like it, but I wish Ford would have incorporated more of the old iconic parts into the new CS. Just my 2 cents.

I Here you, but I have to let you know that I knew nothing about these rare cars you have, till I came here. I first saw my first GT/CS at a car show this past summer, wanting a Shelby, but opted for this, and glad I did. Just take a look at the new Shelby 500, it is of the new body style the same as the GT/CS Mustangs And you all know the GT/CS is mine. You can make your look simular to the old ones, and I hope to with mine.

I love the new GT/CS, especially the convertibles. It's a factory limited edition between the GT and the Shelby - sorta like the 68. The only factory change I would have liked would be a duck tail spoiler (and the brighter stripes that have been discussed here before). Casey
