Here is a wrecked R-code fastback. It seems it was wrecked when racing. The owner also states, and I quote, "the disk brakes were changed to drums for weight savings". :eek:

I'm not a racing expert but it seems to me that the advantages of disk brakes would far outweigh the added unsprung weight. The guy probably couldn't slow down at the end of the 1/4 mile and lost it.

I have bad dreams sometimes and that is what I see in those dreams.

Jason;
I can relate to those types of dreams. Since running my 91 LX 5.0 (347 stroker) into the wall out at National Trails Raceway 4 years ago I've had a few of those type dreams. Always makes me wake up and check to see if everything is still attached. The bad part about the whole thing is I was running a pretty good quarter mile up until that happened. Had made 2 previous runs and had her into the mid 10 second range. Tore the entire front end off the car. All I remember of that one was loosing traction just past the 1/8th mile point and everything from that point on was total kaos. :eek: Haven't been back to the track since then other than as a spectator.

Don, you really live on the edge. Smashing cars into walls at high speeds, running into trees, throwing fans through your radiator....Wow! I just try to miss the occassional squirrel on the way to work :-[ Casey

The color combination is white exterior with a red interior

I think this guy must have sustained a head injury when he crashed his car. He describes the outside color as white when it appears in the picture as blue ???

I think he was refering to the original factory color combination according to the vin codes.

Thanks for the explanation Hook, I stand corrected.

Having drum brakes on "drag" cars was very common, as a matter of fact all the original '68 CJ that Ford built to drag race had drum brakes for the reason stated, less weight. Now if he is road racing......then he is not to sharp.

Amazing. It's up to $9,900 and the reserve hasn't been met. I don't know which amazes me more, the fact that someone bid almost $10,000 for it or that the reserve hasn't been met at that price.
