After reading about how Rob tried to use his new lift as a lethal weapon I thought a thread about things to watch for, ingenious tips, and other things that may benefit others may be fun and useful.

#1
Don't stand in front of a lift that is not bolted to the floor when a car is being driven on it!

When installing bumpers or other items that may scratch paint foam rubber weatherstripping tape protects better than layer upon layer of masking tape. Put masking tape down first then put the foam tape over that.

Tip #4

Never ever ever torque on a component on your car so much that the car starts to shake and gets clearance between the lifting arms and the lifting point.
I think I'll go change my drawers now.

I do not want to admit how many times the flywheel or flex plate has been torqued down and then I discover the plate between it and the engine laying around some where.......

Don't touch the hot radiator cap... ever.
And it doesn't help to use the edge of your shirt to open it because it's too hot for your hand to touch. Doing this allows the scalding high pressure fluid to blast up the inside of your shirt.

And even if you turn the cap a little, let it radiator burp, turn it a little more and let it burp again, etc. you never know for sure if or when it has really burped itself out.

Yes, I pulled an Amy a couple months ago.

Passenger Side Mirror Install

I just finished putting in the Rivnuts or nutserts for my passenger side door. I will be installing the non-remote chrome reproduction mirror.

I showed the measurements in the pictures of how I layed out my pattern. This was the spacing for my intended mirror.

I used the nutserts that my company sells.

This is how I installed the Rivnuts.

We will be making a video on how to install those Rivnuts very soon.

I want that shirt!!!

...Or perhaps you can say your car didn't come with a plate. Rather the little-known, post-dealer optioned; "Exhaust Atomized, Valve Cover Base to Starter & Clutch Lubricator"... With so many other claims not showing up on Marti reports, I'm sure we can snow the most meticulous of judges, No?

I suppose I can provide some documentation with photos same as a t-shirt.... What do ya' think, Rob? We can say it's the real reason some cars had 8K tachometers, so you could tell when you're over-oiling the clutch while at speed.

Do you have a bent pinch weld, or other extended panel that should be straight, and don't feel comfortable taking a hammer to it?

Try an adjustable wrench. As you pry on the dent and it moves in a little, stop and adjust the wrench, then pry again.
