Paul, there should be a pattern for the San Jose Factory.
This is a cut and paste from a question put to another registry.
I should add that there was one big overriding pattern that was followed at
Dearborn, without exception: the cars were built grouped by DSO, in
quantities of approx 100 to 150. This is because of the transportation
methods leaving the plant. So on any given day, we see 150 cars were built
with 11 DSO destined for the Boston district, after final QC they went
directly on transports or trains, and were gone.
Next were 150 for DSO 15, then 150 for DSO 16.... etc. After DSO 54
(Seattle) the DSO 84 cars were built, then the export cars DSO 9x, then the
Canadian cars: A1, A2, through A7. The pattern then repeated with DSO 11.
It really looks like this was the bottom line philosophy of the Dearborn
assembly line.
I would surmise that the GT/CS production follows a pattern too. Maybe not specifically by DSO but groups of GT/CS's due to the specific CS parts used on the assembly line?
I have also heard that the order type "Retail" also got cars expedited. Retail means that the cars were special customer ordered and already sold. The cars designated "stock" were for dealer stock and could stay in the pipeline a bit longer if necessary.
I also came across the meaning of DSO item number. This number is the order number through the District Sales Office. A tracking number through the local Ford District Sales Office for the dealers in that DSO.
