- Engine Options
- · Because the GT/CS package was largely a cosmetic upgrade, buyers could pair it with nearly any engine and transmission combination available in the 1968 Mustang lineup.
- Engine Heritage & Rarity
- · Introduced midway through the 1968 model year, the J-Code effectively replaced the high-performance 289 "K-Code". While Ford built around 170,000 total Mustangs made of the standard 289 engines that year, only about 31,000 J-code engines were produced. Because these 4V small-block cars came with a higher compression ratio, they offered a sportier, more aggressive exhaust note and better acceleration without the heavy maintenance of the older solid-lifter engines. This came with the J-Code and single exhaust which is another rarity which has not been updated due to lower miles with only the rear muffler and pipe replaced as shown in picture on lift.
- Wheels and Brakes
- · The wheels offered any 1968 Mustang coupe options as well as brakes from factory from drums to disc. This car has drum brakes and prior to purchase had added the dual reservoir master cylinder. The car sports the original hubcaps which again were options to the California Special. They were left original on the car which again makes this a nice car left alone and original.
