Yup, fake all the way. notice the one pic of the resto and it still has the original standard '68 side emblem where the side scoop goes and no hole punched for the side scoop along with everything Arlie mentioned. Not sure about the 104531 vin. number either. I sent an email to see what response...

    1968 Neil's Highland Green CS

Neil, I knew there was a reason. I hate it when jobs get in the way of hobbies!! You could drag your feet on the inspections and repairs, but I know you wouldn't do that. Can't wait to see it finished. Bret

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

Got the same letter saying the dvd's were to expensive along with another decal for a total of 3. The decal was compensation for the dvd. Dvd would've been nice, but I still enjoy the book a lot. Bret

    dash lights

Problem solved, whew what a relief. Turned out to be the fuse marked "radio pilot" with one of the contacts having quite a bit of corrosion. Got out my trusty spoon file, stood on my head and filed away. Put in a new fuse and I see the lights. Didn't even know it was part of the circuit, but...

    dash lights

Been there done that also Mike. That is kinda my motto, check the easy and cheapest stuff first and go from there. I twisted the knob till I was blue. So, today I bought a new switch and put it in, checked the dash wire plugs again, fuses, even got an inspection mirror and looked at all the...

    dash lights

I unplugged the radio and still no dash lights and fuses good. Wiggled all the wires I could reach under the dash to see if anything happened, but no luck. All the dash connections are tight. Going to order a H/L switch. Bret

    dash lights

Yup Neil, That's the way mine is also. 137 to the ignition switch and 19(B) turns into 19(A) after a three prong plug and goes to the fuse block with 2.5 Amp fuse, then to the light switch, D2 position. And 19(C) goes to the cluster plug. So, it's 2 pin, 3 wire. I'm still thinking light switch...

    dash lights

Neil, checked and replaced all fuses, pulled the cluster out and connections are good and the headlight switch powers everything else. Cougarcj, I used the original harness plug for the radio and sliced in the pigtail from the old radio, so it's wired the same as the old radio. Since...

Question for the electrical wizards. Here is what I did. I was replacing my stock stereo with a later model, (early 70's) stereo with 8-track, Yes,I'm showing my age!!! Seems simple enough, unplug, unscrew and put the new one in, plug it in and all is good. Did all that and stereo works great...

    1968 Side scoop question

That is a great idea Neil. When I took mine off and put them back on, I did the wrench "around" the window mechanism. It was like a 2+ hour ordeal trying to fit my hand in there and turn the wrench. And of course, I had to flip the wrench for every 1/4 turn. Did you take measurements so others...
