    1968 Golden Anniversary Mustang

Dudes, Check out the below article. It is cool and talks to the Anniversary Gold special paint that my Gold Nugget Special (GNS) was painted with and referred to in the original registry book. The burb in the first book talked to the possibility of jump starting sales in the NW for the GT/CS...

    1968 Idle Going Lean

I always block the cross over. This feature was for daily driver cars back in the days. Now that they are sunny Sunday cars this is no longer needed. These cars live a pampered life and are not asked to run on 20 degree days anymore where carb heating is necessary to prevent carb icing. Rob

    1968 Suspension & Steering

Ha, I am topping you. Drum brake 1966 Cheby El Camino full on brake job. Brand X at its finest!!! Big Block 325 hp 396 which is pretty much a "stone" in the power department. Stock 390's used them up. I hate brake work, but this is a great customer. Rob

James, I love our banter!!! I love your old "farm style" test. I like it!!! You are correct that there should be no other path than by the intake gaskets. The valve stem seals would not be part of this test you did. I also use RTV only on the valley seals or china wall. I also use 4 long...

    1968 Idle Going Lean

Gold Nugget Special. My car was always not "Martied" as a GT/CS, but the jury is still out and that is another story. You provided the links before and all of the major manufacturers in the 1960's used ported vacuum. In fact the more you hop up an engine the more you "may" consider a constant...

    1968 Idle Going Lean

My GNS was an "intake gasket eater" for awhile. It was the result of Exhaust gas reversion exacerbated by a cam with higher than stock overlap. I have aluminum heads also. I used Felpro top of the line gaskets, but after a year or so the gaskets would misform around the end intake ports...

That vacuum is adjustable with a small Allyn wrench inserted into the tube. We can talk about that further, later. Rob

Is it a dual inlet vacuum advance? Rob

    1968 Torque Thrust wheels?

Dad, I hate to say it but you are approaching the "dark side" of the restomod world. Yoda will save you if you go to the world of Dagobah and take his training to restore your faith in the world of factory original!! You know, points and condensers, old bias belt tires, and non-detergent...

    1968 Idle Going Lean

+1 on Scott's thought. Check your timing when just warmed up and check it again when it is very hot. Are you using the dual inlet diaphragm and the tree switch on the thermo housing? They were designed to retard timing. but as I remember you and I talked about constant vacuum verses ported...

    1968 Torque Thrust wheels?

Rob prefers Crager's or TT's!! Period perfect upgrade for a GT/CS! I bet there were more GT/CS and HCS cars in the late 60's with Crager's and TT'S than stock wheels. Rob the Mod man

    1968 Torque Thrust wheels?

I love them also. Make sure that you think about the width/height or your current tires if you reuse them. The TT's have a bit more offset towards the fenders and can cause rubbing issues if the tires are to wide. What tire size to you have? Rob

    1968 Car randomly dies

Certainly replacing the heated wires needs to be done. I still think the dying was not a result of electrical problems, but might have been carb and timing adjustments. Rob

    1968 Helper Springs

Hope this is not on your car. That upper frame rail is not designed to support coils without some work. Almost as bad as air shocks or coil assisted shock absorbers! Rob

    1968 Starting Issue

You should have seen me trying to install the fuel pump on the 68 Stang I restored with the 200 six. Took me a couple minutes to figure out they go on upside down compared to V8 cars…….. Life is tough when you are stupid..... Now drive that sucker!!!! Rob

    1968 Car randomly dies

Sheryl, Does it have a dual connection vacuum advance? Have you sucked on the vacuum advance hose with the dizzy cap off to see if the advance plate moves and the diaphragm holds it? First check the current timing and note it. If it not near 10 degrees BTDC spin the dizzy up to at least 10...

    1968 Car randomly dies

Hope this is all an electrical gremlin. My 2 cents might be over heat, poor timing, and carb adjustment. We will see. Rob
