One way to save the pain of finding out you have a bad sender is before installing it in the tank ground it's frame and hook up the sender wire. Then move the float arm up and down while checking the reading on the gage.

Yes your problem is in the back but before you take it back out I would ground the sending unit with the wire hooked up. Then check and see if it is reading, If so you need to ground the tank.

Yes, it was in my shop fire. It was not burned but the smoke damage was so bad it required disassembly. I thought if I had to take it apart I might as well restore it.

The way you can test it is by grounding the yellow wire then check your gage it should read full. If you need a piece to repair yours I think I have a old harness around.

The GT350 restoration is coming along. The metal repairs are almost done and now check panel fit and gaps before starting body work. I have been busy restoring every thing else. Here is the rear axel I finished last week.
