    1968 Family visit...

Yes, it was a busy 11 days. We did Crater Lake, the Redwoods, the tourist traps at Fishermans Wharf (Never take 2 women to a chocolate factory. It'll cost more than your hotel bill), Yosemite, the Northern Ca. CS group (that had to be on the list), Lake Tahoe and Reno. Deb isn't as adventurous...

Congrats from me as well, Neil. You deserve it. Steve

    1968 Family visit...

Thanks Renee'. I'm sure everyone really needed that shot! :cheesy: Yes, I was conservative, and didn't get any respect! Unfamiliar car, unfamiliar road, precious cargo on board, and the whole time Vanessa was going "Come on Grandpa. You can do better than this!" Then I catch the same thing...

For Sale 1968 GT/CS project Barn Find on E bay

Well it's "in the neighborhood" so I bid $500, and was outbid. I'll wait now and see where it goes. No way I'd give $7500 though. Steve

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

I don't have the book, so can't speak to specifics, but I think it's fair for an enthusiast site to critique a book about the object of the site, i.e. the California Special, in this case. I've seen the same thing on other sites dedicated to my other interests, and see nothing unusual about it...

For Sale GT/CS Tail Light Panel

I think it would depend on whether or not it's original or repop, and if repop, which version. They make one that has the buckets molded in and I think they sell new for about $150 or so. I also don't see the bezels in the picture. If it's all original with everything and not broken/damaged...

    1968 Tach/Ammeter service

The three wire tach has it's own power and ground and senses the ground signal at the coil, like an aftermarket tach. I had to run a new wire to the coil for that. The two wire runs the power wire for the coil through the tach (power in/power out= 2 wire) which means if the tach fails, you could...

    1968 Tach/Ammeter service

I thought I'd share a resource with everyone. I had to rebuild the tach on my '73 Mach 1 and was given the name of a company that converts them to 3 wire tachs. He also does ammeter to voltmeter conversions on the '68 ammeter so I went for that as well. I haven't installed the voltmeter yet, but...

    1968 Tail Light panel question

The panel is the same. Ford just removed some of the metal and drilled a couple extra holes on each side. Steve

    Golly!...

If anyone here buys it and wants to get rid of those valve covers, let me know. I need them. Mine are cracked. Steve

    Golly!...

The bid is now at about what a fastback shell would bring, which makes the case for not making any permanent changes. I think without the sunroofs and tail lights, it would be almost double what it is now. Steve

1968 Need to talk with long time GT/CS owners

I would have, but don't use Yahoo and don't want to create an account. You can PM me if you want, or post here and we can all chime in. What's up? Steve

1968 Is this the correct side view mirror?

I still don't believe this is the correct mirror. It may LOOK like the correct mirror, but the part number is D4AZ-17696-A, which my master parts book says is a replacement for a Galaxie. If it was a replacement for a Mustang it would be 17696-B. I would guess that the base is shaped/angled for...

    70 Mach 1 Trim Rings

I probably could use them on my '70 Cougar, although I had 16" copies of Magnum 500's in mind. If you don't make a deal with someone that really needs them, let's talk. Steve

1968 Is this the correct side view mirror?

That one is a later (1974-75) replacement for a '67-'68 Galaxie. If it was correct for a Mustang, the part number would end in a "B". Steve

    70 Mach 1 Trim Rings

Cory, they are correct for a '70-72 Mustang, '70-'71 Torino, or the same year Cougar and Montego, with a 14" x 7" wheel. That's why they didn't fit your 14"x6" GT rims. Maybe the place Scott works for would be interested. If they were 15", I'd be all over them. Steve

For Sale EBAY listing - GT/CS CALIFORNIA SPECIAL-ORIGINAL

As others have said, there are a lot of details that say this car has been restored. Shocks, lettering on the rad. hoses, etc. That's not necessarily bad, but it's not a survivor. It is a nice looking car that needs some touch up. I would say $18-20K, but like others, I'd want to look at the...

1968 Need Feedback on Restoration Plans - Be Gentle

I guess my first question would be, "What color do you like?" If you're going to be looking at it every day, you should like the color. If you do change it, please be thorough and paint the jams, under trunk and hood, etc. Opening a door and seeing a different color diminishes the car in my...
