1968 Normallly SD parts are underwhelming...

Tried out the "new and improved" '68 kick panels (black). Have to say the overall fit was pretty good. Unfortunately the screw holes were off, about 1/4" high on the upper and the front lower was also out by 1/4" too far back. But not sure how dead-on accurate the factory locations were...

    1968 5 CS's at Mecum Kissimmee.

And two being S code 4 speeds.... prices seem soft. Woulda thought a S GT/CS would bring more than $34k.

1968 Search for my old GT/CS

Did you ever give the data to Paul Newitt for inclusion in his book? If so, the VIN would be there. You could then use that to search the new on line registry here and the web to see if it may be found that way...

    1968 Seat Cover Change

Marty, when you say shorter do you mean the same as the rear 1/4? I have seen posts in the past on VMF where some were saying the fronts and rears are the same length. I don't see that on any of my '68 as the front is a similar "split shank" design, but is longer by a bit (maybe a bit less...

1968 need advice on a parts dealer

Summit is very good for the "non Mustang" mechanical bits like engine parts, after market suspension (Moog, etc) and other parts NPD does not carry... I've used them a number of times and have never had a problem.

    1968 Inner Fender VIN

A grey area which always raised the "how much is too much" question. If you slowly replace every piece of metal in small pieces, over time, no one cares. If you end up at the same place by cutting out the VIN and patching it right back in the same place, no one blinks... I got around it by...

1968 need advice on a parts dealer

Yep, I actually visited Ocala twice. It is less than an hour from family in Orlando. Rick Schmidt, the owner of the multi-million dollar biz his dad started, dropped what he was doing and took an hour and a half to show me around his "collection" when I dropped in to say "Hi" on a Friday...

1968 need advice on a parts dealer

National Parts Depot. hands down. Best customer service and in stock selection on the planet. I bought a LOT of stuff from them, 4 bare metal restorations. Any time a part showed up damaged or incorrect they made it right, quickly and with no hassles. In some cases for small parts they...

    1968 Heater core replacement

You pretty much have to remove the entire under dash setup the blower and box sections. Bolted to the firewall in, IIRC, 3 places with stamped nuts on the firewall in the engine bay. One screw to the dash on the upper RH side. Need to pull the hoses and control cable, and I found removing...

    1968 Seat belt mounting hardware

Yes, looking for confirmation as single source answers sometime end up being semi-correct... or less. DTs answer does align, for the most part, to what I expected/have seen. Just curious if anyone can confirm what they have seen in removing theirs. As I have the big flat washers, from...

    1968 Kick Panels

That does seem really odd, but with SD who knows. I have seen new info on "concours correct" (use with caution, results may vary, past performance is no guarantee of future returns...) 65-66 ones from SD, but the site makes no mention I can see of any difference in the part for 68 coupes in...

Drake's site lists quite a few colors for '68 coupes? http://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Category/Interior%20Parts%2c%20Upholstery/Kick%20Panel/Kick%20Panels%2c%2064-68.aspx?wid=141

1968 No progress since 2014 - time to sell again?

Well... maybe wait for warmer weather and go take a look to remotivate. Know what you mean, have a GT S coupe in the same state. 5 years under a tarp, engine broken in, final interior/misc visual/trim stuff to finish... but just lost the spark. But 3 other cars take the edge off! Once it is...

    1968 Seat belt mounting hardware

Have the items below, think they came from my '68 convertible (San Jose, Dec '67) and X code coupe (Dearborn, March 68) I'm taking out the "Australian" seat belts in the GT/CS, and trying to go back to stock. The parts I have don't line up with the FAM, which we know is not always correct. I...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

And that will be nother days project. I am working on my convertible top "bible" (a far a more tedious and time consuming effort than one would imagine, 4 hours today just documenting the solenoid ar and breaker/fusible link difernces from '65-68...multiply that by all the other aprts and I get...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

In doing a bit more work on "the book" I think 19 may be for the convertible top junction block. Not GT/CS related, for sure, but wondering if anyone may be able to confirm... ??? 19 - Convertible Top Feed Junction Block
