Pics of Cali at the track

I think I have seen your car on route 14 in Cary, IL. would that have been you? Casey

Show Boards: What information do you put?

Hey Tim - nice board! When discussing with people it is 3867 for the CS and 251 for the HCS. Total 4118. I figure you know that, and talk to both with your board. Just fyi'ing others on the site. Casey

That is why I asked Kevin Marti specifically about the word "Gold Nugget Special" and he responded there was no tie to the CS. Plus, the build date of your GNS is before factory production for the CS. However, if they are dealer installed, as considered by Paul, with factory parts in 68...

Hi Robert, Saw your Marti report posted. The car has all the bells and whistle options - a lot of them - very nice. I am convinced it was a dealer promotion car (see this site: http://www.themustangshop.com/grandpa.cfm - very similar options to yours). This special is considered very rare...

Show Boards: What information do you put?

I use the Elite Marti Report, and the Dealer Brochure framed (discussed in the site before). Both confirm to anyone wondering what it is. I also keep a "book" of items for people to view (original build sheet, original warranty cards, original manual, original 68 magazine ads, SAAC articles...

As they say, "All will be revealed in time". Keep digging, and let's see what comes of it. Casey

Cool! Let's see what happens. It could be a dealer special (like the HCS?). The date is pre-production, which could make it interesting. Do the rear reflectors on the quarter panels have painted edges, or chrome? Thx, Casey

The basic and deluxe Marti report lists if it had the california special option. The production date noted is before CS production dates. Please post the Marti report - that will help us a lot. Casey

    40th Anniv.GT/CS Registry Decals

I would like to see one for each. They dont have to be the same decal/plaque. One for the 68 and a different one for the 07,08's. Seems like that would suit the tastes of both the old and the new? Casey

If your Marti report says this is Jan 03, '68 car and has the California Special option, then I would love to see the Marti report. This would make it a very early production car. Please post the Marti report. Thanks! Casey

    40th Anniv.GT/CS Registry Decals

Joe, Here is irony for you. Living in the midwest I have seen 6 new 2007 GT/CS's. What I tend to hear is that people here know about the 07 GT/CS and didnt know there was a 68 GT/CS. I even tried to explain it to a floor salesman at the FORD dealership that my 68 GT/CS was the original on...

    40th Anniv.GT/CS Registry Decals

my vote. either add the 07/08 for the 40th anniversary decal, or make a special one for that group. there is probably enough volume to do either option. casey

    CS/HCS Name, Why Now?

Good point. Taking cues from the Shelby crowd, many (most) are moving back to vintage. I do know one person with a 67 shelby FB that put the paxton supercharger on it (though it did not come original), but it appears to be a vintage paxton supercharger (?). Original or not, it turns heads. Casey

    CS/HCS Name, Why Now?

Simple for me: 1. If you want the real thing, then get a Marti Report BEFORE buying - remember there are only 3,867 GT/CS (for 1968) 2. If not real GT/CS, and you still want it, then enjoy it to the max 3. Check out the californiaspecial.com site. They are the real experts. Casey

Do you where your seats belts in your 68 CS/HCS?

I dont have a shoulder belt in by 66 or 68. So only lap belt. In all my other cars, I wear all belts all the time. I started this only in 2000ish when my new GT mustang made an annoying ding continously if I didnt wear the belt I never wore one before, have been in many accidents, including...

    This is neat!...

this is a really nice car! do you think it is priced to high? i see no bids at this time. sometimes when a lot of work is put into a car you see it for what it is worth given your time, but the market sees it only as another car. these guys really seemed to put heart, soul and sweat into...

    Iow Jima

"Flag of our Fathers" is the book. I highly recommend it. Iwo Jima was a US battle fought by Marines and Navy. My grandfather was on the USS Baltimore at the battle. If I remember correctly, a fleet of 800 ships, 22,000 Japanese lives, and 26,000 US casualties for a small 8 square mile...

Can we classify this a Society

Lot's of recent books on the "digital society" such as Friedman's "The World is Flat". Many would consider "myspace" a collection of societies. However, to put that on a resume' would be pushing it a bit. I value all of us as family and friends (if any are ever in Chicago - please contact me...
