    Lift with your legs!!!

Hi all, My son and I pulled the engine on the CS Friday evening. All went well. After mounting the engine to the stand, then getting the heads and oil pan pulled off. It was time to see what size bores were on this ol' (69 casting date) 302. They ended up being .030" over. This wasn't too...

Preferred way to restore engine bay?

Arlie/David/Steve, Thanks for the input. The engine bay has what looks like several layers of paint. It' s got quite a bit of orange peel texture. For you guys that went with the media blasting- What media did you use? Looks like there is a variety of blasting media from plastic beads to...

Preferred way to restore engine bay?

Hi all, I'll be pulling the engine out of the CS tomorrow night. Hmmm, probabaly would be a good time to detail the engine bay. This got me to thinking about what approach to take regarding detailing it. What I'd like to have for a finished product is a nice looking (doesn't have to be...

Thanks for info guys. I'm getting ready to either rebuild the existing engine or get something new. If my car could talk!! Here's what I've found- The casting and VIN numbers on my engine indicate some interesting goings-on in the past... I thought I had a 289 all this time!!! 302 Block...

CS for sale on Craigs List Los Gatos, CA

Horse on the fender- I've seen this quite a bit on CSs I suspect these are replacement fenders that have the holes for the running pony and bars pre-punched on the sheet metal. And people (maybe the body shop way back when) decide that rather than fill in the holes, it's easier to get the...

    Looking for Suburban Ford Frames

Hey Mike, I was up near your neck o' the woods in Lincoln visiting my Dad today. We were at Home Depot and I spied a Suburban Ford license plate frame on a car in the parking lot. A "bad" thought popped into my head...but I didn't have a screwdriver on me ;-) It wasn't the right type...

    Fog Light Identification

Looks like Marchal housings and a "custom" insert of a different fog light type. Kind of clever, but it just doesn't look quite right.

Anyone have a 68 HCS in Tahoe Turquoise or Raven Black?

All, I purchased the 1/18 scale diecast model of the HCS in Tahoe Turquiose a few weeks back (I know I don't have an HCS...but they offered it in my color, so I bought it). It showed up in the mail yesterday. Looks pretty nice. I'll post a pic when I get a chance. Back to part of Jon's...

    Door Trim

My CS with deluxe interior came with shortys in the back with the set screws. The front passenger side had a shorty with center phillips head screw and no place for the set screw. The driver side has a longy with the center phillips head screw. It makes sense that the shortys may have come on...

    Suspension rebuilt...now a mystery.

Joe, What is your current engine? And what kind of HP does it put out with the supercharger? Let me know who you go through to buy the 347 stroker. I saw these on summit racing's and ford racing's web sites. Sounds very tempting. I'm thinking of an engine somewhere in the 300HP to 350HP...

    Suspension rebuilt...now a mystery.

Another tidbit- I finished the rear suspension on the CS last night...leaf springs and shocks. I felt like a little kid trying to climb into the trunk to get at the upper shock nuts. Took it for a spin today. Wow, the difference in ride quality is remarkable. I don't think that most of...

    Suspension rebuilt...now a mystery.

Thanks Steve. Since the lower control arm uses that eccentric bolt and washer setup, that would make sense. It's the only part that I changed out that has any adjustment to it. I'll have the alignment place straighten the steering wheel while it's at the shop. -Jeff
