To Shroud or not to Shroud?

I just went back an reread the original post and realized that the question is about 289's, not 302's. A 289 without air has no shroud. A 289 with standard transmission and IMCO has a shroud. Scott

To Shroud or not to Shroud?

I found a "Mustang radiator shroud application chart" and it says that a 1968 302 motor WOULD have a shroud if the car has air, but would NOT if the car doesn't have air. This is consistent with a 1968 GT I have. It has a 302, no air, and no radiator shroud. It is an original unrestored car...

WANTED: COPY OF THE 1968 1/2 FORD MUSTANG GT/CS CALIFORNIA SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Re:WANTED: COPY OF THE 1968 1/2 FORD MUSTANG GT/CS CALIFORNIA SPECIAL RECOGNITI Bob is right. Be glad the stuff for a GT/CS is as cheap as it is. And be glad the cars are as cheap as they are. Look at the rest of the muscle car world right now. Many cars that were affordable a few short...

    Air cleaner snorkle.

Early Mustangs had the vacuum controlled override motor, and late Mustangs did not. Ford deemed the servo unnessary about the 1st of April 1968. Cars built later than that should not have the vacuum override motor on the snorkle. If you want to hook up the vacuum line it attaches to the rear...

    Air cleaner snorkle.

The correct snorkle is determined by the build date of the engine and car. Tell me when your car was built (better yet, when the engine was built) and I can tell you which is correct...assuming I can remember where to look it up. Scott

Kevin Marti says there were 46 GT/CS's sent to the Dallas DSO. I can account for one of them. Scott

    Paint code and ID

The pinch weld should be blacked-out below the rocker molding and on the rear quarter behind the wheel. You will normally see the red oxide primer, car color overspray (like in the website picture of the Shelby), and black pinch weld overspray on the bottom of the car. I've heard that the...

    Battery Tray Size

Jason, That's good to know. Apparently they don't reproduce the smaller group 22 batteries. Thanks for looking. Scott

    Battery Tray Size

Today I tried to put a reproduction group 24 Autolite battery in my 1968 Mustang and found that the tray was about an inch short of what is required to get the battery to sit flat. Did all Mustangs have group 24 trays in them. Since the current tray is too short, does that mean it was replaced...

    Two GT/CSs for Sale

I think I'll keep the Shelbys for now. But if I decide to get rid of any I'll let you know. With the prices the way they are, doesn't look like I'll be getting any more of them.

    Two GT/CSs for Sale

Trunk stripes needed (white), couple other questions.....

Jason, All 1968 Shelby's have the light in the trunk lid. I'd assume that the GT/CSs would do it the same way. Looks like two of the holes are already there and one needs to be drilled. I'll try to get some pictures later today. Your car should have a very small hole in the bottom right...

    Ride Height

Only through detailed interviews with dozens of Ford factory workers and scrutinizing once lost Mustang assembly documents was I able to uncover this super detailed information. Just kidding. It's on page 32 of the "1968 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual" reprinted by Jim Osborn Reproductions...

    Ride Height

I just went through this for a 1968 Mustang I recently bought. Here's what I found. Ride heights are measured from the ground to the highest most point of the wheel well opening (which should be though the center of the wheel). For Mustang with standard suspension: Front - 26.68 tolerance...

    Padding under trunk matt

Russ, I have a 1968 Mustang convertible that has the sound deadening on the tank. It's a San Jose car. Early car though, build date of Feb 1968. My original paint GT/CS doesn't have it on the tank though, but does have it where the upper shock mounts are. Who knows, seems like lots of...
