    1968 Ford Mustang Gt Convertible

Nice car, you don't see Sea Foam Green very often. Is the car really a California Black Plate car? It seems the majority of California cars were built in the San Jose plant.

need help finding a center console!!

Don't forget the shifter! I think it would be cheaper to buy a complete console as opposed to piecing one together. Arlie is right about the Cougar consoles, not exactly the same, but they will work. Swap meets and used parts dealers are cheaper than ebay most of the time.

    "Paint Stripe" opinions

Do what you want, but remember this stripe was painted and not the tape like we see today. I like them.

Curious to get thoughts on Seller eBay error

Without knowing Perogie's side of the story I tend to side with the buyer. Perogie, like many others, buys low and sells high. They have been doing it for years and I am confident that they have bought things from unsuspecting sellers without informing them of the "market value" of the item...

Curious to get thoughts on Seller eBay error

It was for the complete fold down rear seat and hardware. Yes they have been that high lately.

Curious to get thoughts on Seller eBay error

It is clearly an error, but appears the buyer hit the buy it now button, and paid for the item before the error was noticed. My question is if you had a part for sale for $50 and Perogie saw it and knew it to be worth $3000, what would they do, buy it or tell the seller it was under priced?

    Heater Delete Question

I know at least one member has a heater delete car. What did Ford put in place of the heater controls. Was it a plate like the passenger side or did it look like the heater control w/o slots. Pictures?!!

    Marti report in hand

As Rhonda said, you now know it is a true California Special. The option list and color combo are nice, as well. If you think you paid a fair price that is all that matters. Let the fun begin!!

    Help, Just Bought California Special

The VIN will indicate what the original motor was from the factory. Most all of the parts (block, heads, intake, carb, etc.) have part # or casting # on them. For example C8OE-6090-H. Check your engine and provide some numbers and I'll try to help. Externally, the 390 and 428 look similar.

    Engine went in today.

It looks good, congrats!!! Have you decided what your first show is going to be. It's been a long time for this one I remember the magazine articles. Keep us posted. Danny

    Rear View Mirror

The interior mirror that Tim posted is the only factory mirror I 've ever seen on a 68 mustang, regardless of factory.

    Mustang Special Editions

There is a new book out by Brad Bowling and Jerry Heasley titled Mustang Special Editions. It covers the California Special, HCS, Ski Country Special, Pace Cars, etc. Interesting book covering alot of Special Editions from 64.5- present. It lists the registries for the cars and the related...

    What was your first car?

A 1967 MUSTANG CandyApple red, 289 2bbl., C-4 auto. Nothing special, I bought it when I was 15 after working all summer.

    How many were GT's

How many California Specials received the GT option from the factory? I know Kevin Marti can tell us. Has this question been asked before or does anyone want to guess. I was thinking less than 10%, under 400.

    Auto Console

Yes, that is the shifter assembly you need. I haven't been watching the prices lately, but I would suspect b/t $75-$100 for it.

    Auto Console

The shifter assembly is indeed different between console and non console cars. IMO it is best to buy the whole assembly as the housing (bucket) has the tabs for the plastic select indicator. The handle has the tab for the plastic adapter, and the indicator light is mounted differently. The...

Opinion on color change: From Candyapple red to Royal Maroon

Keep it original! With the Marti report being available it's not like you can fool; anyone. When I look at a color change car I subtract the cost of a paint job right off the top. As you know today that can be thousands of dollars. Then again I'm a purist.
