    '67 GTA Question

1967 was the only year you could order the the GT or GTA option w/ a 2-V engine(1st generation). Kevin Marti can confirm to be 100% sure. Before I purchased my last car I ordered the standard report to confirm it was a true GT.

    aftermarket rear suspension

You may also want to try EatonDetroit Spring, they are licensed by Ford and produce a hundred or more springs for the Mustang alone. They also produce springs that meet or exceed factory specs AND lower the stance of the car by an inch. They have a comprehensive web page. Sorry I don't know...

    Windshield pillar pads

Does anyone know when Ford "officially" discontinued the windshield pillar pads and dashboard knee pads? My Coupe with a December 67 build date has the pillar pads, but not the knee pad. My fastback with a March 68 build date has neither. Thanks.

    Westminster car show

It sounds like a good show, I didn't realize it was indoors. Quite a few people were talking about it at the Leesburg Show. I just got home from the Richmond, VA show, nearly 200 cars. Alot of cars from the Leesburg show were there. One real nice California Special (he also attended...

need some assistance about my new 68GT/CS

It's only original once. But the overall condition should dictate what you do. Very few cars exist in "unrestored" condition for obvious reasons.

    X code or S code

MCA, Do you have any pictures of the snorkle you can post? I can't say that I've ever seen one you are describing. I have seen a couple 390 cars with a rather long round snorkle. Both of those owners claimed it was original, they were San Jose cars, maybe 67's. (I do not have any digital...

Jon, I would like to thank you as well, this is the only Mustang Forum I participate in, because I like the way it is set up and the ease of posting. Thanks for a job well done.

    Autolite Sta-Ful Battery

When I called and ordered my battery from Antique Auto Battery the reply I received was, " we will be making lead acid on Wednesday or Thursday next week". The Maintenance Free has a 3 week back up. Also you will notice that this Maintenance Free battery is a little more expensive than the...

    Autolite Sta-Ful Battery

In an earlier post I mentioned that I was having trouble finding the Group 24 battery. I contacted Antique Auto Battery and found out that they are producing both the lead acid battery ($130) and the maintenance free ($230). They can be reached at 800-426-7580 M-F 8-3 EST. I am still hearing...

    Dixco Hood Tachometer

I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH A HOOD TACH BEING AVAILABLE IN '68, BUT AGREE THAT THEY WERE OFFERED IN '69. IS IT CORRECT? I GUESS THAT DEPENDS ON WHO YOU TALK TO. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS THE LOUVERED TAILLIGHT PANEL OFFERED FOR 1967. IT WAS NOT A FACTORY OPTION IN 68, BUT AVAILABLE OVER THE PARTS...

    Original big block verses non-original

I think that the current market has proven two things. 1. You can modify a Mustang and sell it for a profit 2. The Mustang, stock or modified, STILL appeals to alot of people. Personnally, the modifications should be well thought out, and PROPERLY applied. Most modified cars that are...

    Grand National Stampede, Youngstown, OH

Don, Tom, and whoever else took car, Everyone should be proud of their cars regardless of class or awards. I was so looking forward to the show but had problems Wed. and Thur. that I was unable to overcome and the car did not get finished. With gas prices I decided not to attend. Again...

Bad Luck or just a sad state of affairs

I'll be staynig at the Fairfield Inn down the street, but I'll look for your car and introduce myself. I'll have a Black GT Fastback there. I've used my GT Coupe to rob a few parts from, as well. I also use it for my reference book when all else fails. See you in Youngstown.

Bad Luck or just a sad state of affairs

Don, I am trying to finish my car for Youngstown as well and have been sharing your luck... I call to order the Autolite Sta-Ful battery and find out New Castle Battery is out of business (still no luck finding one). Try ordering the rolled tip dual quad exhaust tips back ordered... NO ONE HAS...

    X code or S code

I agree with Don, the X-Code and S-Code were nearly identical excluding the cam, fuel pump, and obviously the carb and intake. Everything else was the same. If you are going to take the car back to the 2-V setup you need to locate the correct intake. Two different versions were made...

    hood hindges and latch

PHOSPHATE and OIL is what the MCA says is correct, most plating shops can do the work. Typically, they charge a minimum fee, so if you are thinking of going that route do some more research and take everything. It will probebly be the same price. I used A-1 Plating in Baltimore, MD and am...

Lack of CSs at car shows

For anyone thinking of taking a car with dull paint or an interior needing some work, to a car show or cruise in, I say go for it. I recently attended the East Coast Cougar Nationals and saw 2- 1968 427 GTE's. One was totally restored, and the other unrestored. They were parked side by side...

    concorse knowledge needed, anyone?

Hook, your apology is accepted. Arlie, I realize some people try to get under others skin just for kicks and when dealing with the internet we are fortunate that it doesn't happen here more often. I appreciate the insight. Also, in a society that has forgotten grammer and punctuation I...

    concorse knowledge needed, anyone?

I think nfrntau is a reporter in real life, taking a few words of a complete sentence out of context and trying to incite people. MUSTANGER, you are right, I was refering to my FASTBACK as not being a CS, hence a "freak fastback CS". Because we all know FORD did not produce any fastback...

    concorse knowledge needed, anyone?

I am completing a concourse restoration now, and used the factory assembly manual for alot of the information. You can get them at most Mustang parts dealers, the chassis manual has the suspension details. Study the diagrams and read the fine print. Also refer to Mustang Monthly June '97...
